Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Really small tier point run

I have been follwing Head for Points for several years and have found the articles and discussions really useful. However, this is my first post as I am no expert and could do with some specific advice. I am currently 10 TP short of retaining Silver with no flights planned before the end of March. I live (quite) near LCY and could do with suggestions for the cheapest day return to meet the target over the next couple of months. All help would be appreciated.

Prices are generally not going to be cheap this close to the travel date, but you can use the BA low fare finder tool on their website which shows price by date and city. Some European destinations will be cheaper than UK domestics.

Also be sure to pick the correct fare category, though if you’re doing a return, I think you’d get 5 + 5 TPs even on the lowest fare.

Thanks for this. I thought this would probably be the case but I live in hope that there may be an anomoly somewhere.

The usual candidates are available for day trips in March from LHR:

BHD £44 each way, DUB £37, LUX £39. Probably only on the very early or late flights.

BACF flight on Sundays from STN-AMS is often cheap.

Those are good prices. You could not get from Manchester to London on the train for that!

Seems a shame not to make a mini-break out of it though.

    Yes you can.

    6th Feb 12:55 2h14m (Avanti) £41.50
6th Feb 13:06 3h18m (Northern to Crewe then WMT) £27.50

DUB and LUX are still cheaper; that 2nd routing sounds like it would take all day! I’ll let you know next time I need a fare searching though …
