Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Refund on Virgin card using GBIT (Curve)

  • 34 posts

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to confirm what would happen if I use Go Back in Time for a purchase on my Virgin Card. I have had to make a large payment towards an expense in the last week, but plan to use GBIT in a month’s time to hit a SUB on another card. I have also hit my voucher due to this expense.

When I get refunded due to GBIT, the Virgin website states that “when you receive a refund, the Virgin Points you earned for that amount will remain in your Flying Club balance. This means that your points balance will not increase until you have spent enough to earn the Virgin Points received for the refunded transaction.” Does this mean that if I GBIT a £3,000 expense, I will not get any points for my next £3,000 that I spend on the card? That does seem to be the obvious meaning of this, but the link to an example on their page does not work.

Also, what happens to the voucher? Does that get “refunded” back to Virgin until I hit the £10k threshold again?

    Thanks for your help!

The first part I can assist with, but someone else will have to answer the voucher query…but yes, that is correct, and it happened to me last month. As long as a statement has been produced and points awarded, if you GBIT then you will keep the points but will not earn anymore until you reach that spend again.

If the 10k has taken you through the threshold and the voucher has been issued, it will remain issued.
