@titaniumostrich Thanks for the info. I will have done enough segments for Silver Jay by the time I lose my Gold wings (so won’t need any soft landing), but I think I’ll be too far off requalifying for GS to contemplate bouncing around Spain for the last few segments. As you say, with one hand they giveth and the other they taketh away, but it’s all part of the fun!
I’m immensely glad you’re getting the most out of it, to the Nordics & the Latin part of the world. That’s the way to go about it. And perhaps StatusMatch will do another cash retention offer.
BTW I’ve been informed flights have not been credited due to multiple returns on the same day (during the mileage run). Another new rule. Glad I didn’t book such multiples this time around.
Eeek, I was missing 4 sectors to get to 26 to requalify for Gold Sparrow, so have literally booked 2 back to back MAN-LHR-MAN’s … do I now fear that they won’t credit these? – that would be very annoying!!

I was talking about multiple B2B’s on the same day (on some days I did 3, so only one was credited). If that is your case as well, I’d actively inform after the first two segments get posted.

Sorry to sound stupid, what do you mean actively inform 🙂 …. and in layman’s terms does this mean that I need to look for another T&B and *not* do two MAN>LHR>MAN sectors on the same day?
Well if you already booked the tickets and they are non-refundable, I guess just roll the dice. I meant if only one return gets posted, send them a friendly mail (frequentflyer@rj.com) regarding the status of the other return. You might get a different answer. My experience is just a data point, and it seems a bit hit or miss if flights get credited. some have had Iberia operated by Iberia Express credited, some have not. I’m not taking any chances anymore. The previous segment run I did was fun, but not getting half of the segments credited was a bit of a bummer.
Anyone a bit short re-qualifying have any plans? Most of my flights have been avios, so only 7 segments.
I was thinking of emailing them to ask if they might extend the status – if they could for August then I would actually have time to fly around Spain for €20 a ticket and requalify. Would be willing to pay another $100-200, anyone done this/probability they would agree to this?

Would definitely be an interesting data point if it would be allowed. As it stands, I think the chances of that are zero, since they contracted StatusMatch.com for this. They sell their own tier points to retain status, but if you qualified on segments this would probably not be a logical route.
You could consider writing StatusMatch.com if they would extend the targeted offer to you? Their retention offer is $350.
Managed to add my matched Royal Jordanian Gold FF number to an Avios booking to get free seat selection via BA online chat. When I log into my BA MMB it says I get free seat selection but when trying to confirm my chosen seats I get an error message.
Anyone had this before or how I might resolve it as my preferred seats are available?

It sounds like although you added your RJ number, you may also have your BA Exec number still attached to the booking. You wont see your BA number in MMB but what you describe above is exactly what happens in this case.
Same thing happened to me last month.
You need to call BA to check, and if so have your Exec Club number removedHello everyone, is Royal Jordanian the best FF if you are aiming to get Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald? With the changes made to BA, I don’t think I will be able to qualify so I wonder whether I should credit my flights to either Royal Jordanian or Iberia Plus? I only pay cash when traveling for work, for leisure I mostly pay using RFS, CV, etc.
Thanks!

In my opinion – yes. I would fly BA usually between 10 and 12 returns a year from Glasgow to Heathrow, and get nothing from them.
In fact, if they hadn’t changed BAC then I’d have been none the wiser. Now this year, with a few extra flights booked by myself I’m going to get OWS, and it’s actually given me the motivation to aim for OWE with an extra few personal trips to hit that 46 segment threshold. Will RJ adjust the requirements of their Frequent Flyer membership when they get the bills for lounge access from members who aren’t flying RJ and aren’t visiting Amman?
Indeed, I’m reserving judgement on RJ until such a time as I might want to re-qualify (hopefully Rob was correct about soft landings for 2026), and following the progress of @titaniumostrich and others.
The status match might still be around for anyone who wants to qualify sooner rather than later?
The big draw with the status match initially though NL (for me anyway) was being able to match higher hotel status for RJ Gold (OW Sapphire), think the maximum hotel match now is to RJ Silver (OW Emerald), which, although better than nothing, doesn’t quite cut it…
I can understand the scepticism.
I had nothing before, and I’ll survive if I end up with no benefits later.
I had a status match, but only to Silver (ruby), and to be honest, it’s made things much easier for me at that level alone. being able to skip the queue at check-in and pick my seats on BA in advance of most others did make the £40 I spent great value. Boarding group 3 has also been useful for those times I’ve not checked a bag to make sure my carry-on stays with me.That aside, from what I’ve been reading, it’s the airline that you’re travelling on that foots the lounge bill, as I understand it, not RJ, so it should have limited impact on RJ. Also, other airlines like BA, QR etc have to essentially buy RJ’s (frankly worthless) air miles so this is potentially a small income stream for them.
I imagine (hope) that worst case scenario is that they might remove some of the easier/cheaper segment runs from being eligible so that the spend increase.
In any case, all I’m hoping for is to make Platinum later this year to tie in the benefits for 2 years (and possibly a 3rd if they still do soft landings at that point). If it makes my monthly trips to London a little more comfortable, then I’m all for it.

It’s economy and premium economy passengers where the frequent flyer airline pays the operating air carrier.

* Sorry, meant RJ Silver = OW Ruby
When people where offered an extension of the status, when did you receive that offer?
My status should run out in the next couple of weeks and nothing received yet (I know it’s not a given that I’d be offered the opportunity to pay to extend status).Email status match and ask if they can offer one
Thanks to @tootsci ‘s prompting, I searched a bit and found this thread which has answered just about all my questions about the RJ Gold Sparrow.
BTW and totally tangentially, I was amused by the ‘Gold Sparrow” thing. To most Europeans that means a drab brown, quarrelsome little bird but there is actually an Arabian Golden Sparrow, a rare and beautiful yellow/gold bird. I feel so much more special now 😂
Anyway, I just got a status match by using my (previously matched to BA Silver) Flying Blue status! No miles flown. So, as I understand it from this very interesting thread, I must now (or more specifically next month when my BA Silver expires) contact BA using Online Chat & get them to completely remove my BA FF number & replace it with the new RJ OneWorld number on my two existing BA redemption bookings? How will I know this has been done properly though?
I’m particularly exercised about getting the extra baggage allowance as I’m inbound on BA in CW & connecting to BA Eurotraveller economy onward so I’ll have too many bags otherwise! Does anyone have experience of that element please?
TIA as ever.@Saltrams Glad you found this thread 🙂 The short answer is that I don’t think there is a way of knowing for definite, particularly now that you can’t manage it yourself e.g. via RAM website. I previously used this route and it worked fine, but had to message BA on Twitter/X to get my BA number changed to my RJ number for a flight at the end of this month, so am keeping everything crossed. From what I have read on the forums there’s two fields in a booking for a FFN, so I suppose when you message BA just be absolutely clear with them.
@Saltrams Also nice trivia on the Arabian Golden Sparrow!
Email status match and ask if they can offer one
Which email address is that? My status is also going to expire shortly unfortunately.
