Ryanair cancels February routes?

I’ve just had an email from Ryanair telling me our VLC-MAN flight on Feb 5th has been cancelled. Looking at alternatives, they seem to have pulled numerous routes for the first week in February.

Of course they’re offering to re-route me with themselves, from one of their other destinations, but even if we were happy changing to, say, ALC, there’s nothing available that week. I did wonder if the cancellation was the result of the recent catastrophic flooding, but that wouldn’t explain why it only seems to affect that particular week, and other destinations.

It seems my options are either accept a refund and make my own arrangements to return or start negotiations with FR? VLC is not well served from the UK and there are no other direct flights to MAN or LPL. I’m assuming that in theory at least I’m entitled to fly home from another airport if there are no direct options from VLC? Though if that’s going to take longer than returning indirectly via LHR or MAD, then indirect it might have to be.

Consider getting the train to Madrid and then MAD-MAN.

Update – it was an FR glitch and these flights are NOT cancelled! FR currently emailing affected customers to “uncancel”.
