Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Shortest Club World flight

Can anyone tell me the shortest flight where you get Club World please? I have an upgrade voucher to use and am reluctant to use it on Club Europe. Somewhere slightly further than Madrid in order to get a decent amount of time to experience it. I am not flusb with Avios as injave just used Amex 241 to book Thailand at the end of the year.

Your question is more about cost than distance, so check out the pricing table here: https://www.headforpoints.com/2024/08/29/how-many-avios-do-i-need-to-fly-to-2/

You’re also asking about premium economy pricing, upgrading to club world using the voucher.

The simple answer is Abuja, Jeddah or Kuwait at 37,500 Avios off peak, one way. They may not be attractive destinations to you. If you can stretch to 42,500 Avios one way, a lot more options become available to you, including all of Northeast USA & Canada, Chicago, Bermuda, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Lagos, Islamabad and Accra.

Kuwait is ending soon. Also on short overnight flights you don’t really get much of an experience and you arrive just as tired as you would have if you had taken economy

How many avios do you have available to use? You are more constrained than with the 241 because the upgrade voucher requires you to pay max avios min cash.

As mentioned, the best value option is probably one of the destinations in the 42,500 avios, off-peak, zone. I think Chicago would probably be the longest of these.

There are day flights back from some of these (JFK/BOS/DXB/DOH) if you want to avoid the dreaded red eye!

Antigua to St Kits is possibly one of the shortest Club World flights @45 minutes, but I realise this is not what the question was about and note that others have answered more helpfully.

It used to be TLV, until the recent war necessitated a change of planes to make the route more economical – it was largely an anomaly given that Cairo and Amman were on narrow bodies, and primarily to compete with El Al and VA who were using wide bodies. It’s possible this route could be restored to a wide body now the ceasefire is in place but not likely to be an imminent change.

Also NAS-GCM and NAS-PLS, but not really worth it!

Yeah, but they are a whopping 90 minutes plus. ANU – SKB they barely get time to turn off the seatbelt signs.

Also none of them depart from the UK, so couldn’t be booked with the upgrade voucher!

One other thing to consider, as you probably already know Emma, is not all Club World seats are created equal. If the experience is the main reason for the travel, try to make sure you’re on a flight served by Club Suite equipped aircraft. (Essentially avoid Gatwick, A380s, 787-8 or 797-9 as they are almost all the old style ying-yang seat. Heathrow 777, A350 and 787-10 are Club Suite equipped, and the first couple of 787-8s are now retrofitted too)

I think Chicago would probably be the longest of these.!

+1 For Chicago as a destination… great city centre to explore and if you’re clever you could time your flights so you can visit the Air and Water Show (16 – 17 August 2025) which is a free show over Lake Michigan. Watching the Blue Angels fly between sky scrapers en-route to various parts of their display is epic!

Thank you everyone for some great advice. Am doing LHR/SIN/KUL/LHR CW with 241 in November but didn’t really want to waste my BC voucher which expires in Nov. I will certainly look inton the cost for the suggestion in August. Once again, thanks everyone.

Rhys published an article this morning that seems relevant-ish here, looking at the value of flight as gauged by Avios per mile and Chicago came out pretty well (only beaten by Cincinnati within that price bracket).
