Just wondering about anyone’s experience of TAP’s business class on long haul. Looking at connecting from LHR via LIS to Brazil.
TAP have many more Brazilian destinations (Recife, Natal, Salvador) than BA/Iberia etc and so it avoids the connection in Brazil from Rio/Sao Paulo.
I know they had a terrible reputation in COVID for refunds. But interested in the business class long haul experience. It’s quite a lot cheaper than BA but I am guessing that means it may be less “premium” as well.
Any experiences or advice welcome. Thanks.
I flew with them LIS-BOS in 2019 and initially like you thought they would be “less premium” because of the price but I thought they were more than fine in the air.
Food and drink very good. Ditto IFE. I’d say the cabin crew were professional but not chatty like on some other airlines.
It is not just during covid, it has been like that for at least two decades. I remember fighting with them in mid-2000s over lost luggage compensation. They just ignore.
They are great if everything goes smoothly. If not, be prepared to fight. They do have a monopoly on some routes so they are attractive and unfortunately, I do have to fly with them sometimes.

+1
I did MAN-LIS-SFO and back with them in 2019. Lounge at SFO was the United Polaris with a la carte food.
Cash fare was £1560 for biz so made no sense to use miles. Food and drink and crew were great. Seats good as well. Got the pic of a lifetime of the Golden Gate bridge and also aerial of SF itself as we banked for landing.
Miles credited to United with no issues.
Thanks all – really helpful advice and experiences.
I flew fairly long haul LIS-Accra and although TAP are scandalously bad when there are flight delays and disruptions, I have to say the crew on the flight were excellent and the flight itself was a delight
