I am a very infrequent Virgin flyer, but on this particular occasion, I have booked myself and my wife over to the US West Coast, on one of their A350/1000 services, complete with their ‘Loft’.
Just wondering, good bad, indifferent ?
Any particular advice re access or things, maybe, to be aware of ? Thanks.
The consensus is indifferent. It’s basically a galley with soft finishes that you can walk around in.
Thanks, I read the reviews on here, but they seem a bit out of date, hence my question/s.
The Loft’s best feature is crew-dependent: when they roll out the booze trolley, and leave it there.

That is the ONLY benefit lol
The Loft is just a marketing gimmick with some uncomfortable rigid sofa setup that was put there to allow space for passengers to enter/exit the aircraft – it has very little going for it to be honest.
Just to clarify re access, business class only

Yes – but other than stretching legs and sitting for 30 mins in a different seat, I can’t see any great attraction in Economy or Premium wanting to go (OK so for Economy you’d have a bit more space around you)
So,what would the general consensus of Virgin experts be, go with the A350/1000 or the 787/9 ?
Thanks.
I’ve booked Business on the A350, but happy to cancel and book the 787 instead…makes no difference to us. Thanks.
You’re going to want, in order, an A339, A351, 789, A333.
Access to The Loft is, of course, predicated on you being in Upper.
A339/A351 use the new suites, whereas 789/A333 use the old coffins.

There is a minor difference between the A339 and A351, but nothing noticeable, really. Steer clear of 1A/1K, else you might get overlooked by crew inadvertently!

They’re dated, and really need to go, to be honest. I actually prefer a quiet PE cabin on the same aircraft.
Thanks for that. I guess we’ll keep the booking for the A350/1000 on the day we want. Not at all bothered with the loft , just wondered what all the hype was about !
I certainly prefrred the “old” bar to the new bar or Loft (in that order), but it depends who you meet and who the crew are. Last year flying to Miami for a Virgin Voyages cruise it turned out there were 5 passengers all going on the same cruise flying in UC, so we had a great time hanging out in the loft and even sharing taxis to downtown after the flight and nightmare customs and immigration queue.
Better when there was a staffed bar for sure though.
