Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Tier points for Hotel only bookings?

  • 1 post

Hello, if I use a reward (241)voucher for the flights, but book the hotel via the BA holidays site, do I get tier points based on the hotel alone? Or does it have to be the full package of flights and hotel to get the tier points?
If it’s the latter, is there a way to book the full package and still take advantage of the 241 reward voucher?
Thanks for your advice on this.

A ‘BA Holiday’ for TP purposes is clearly documented as flight + hotel or flight + car, so no combination with reward flights works.

In principle you can tag an expensive hotel which you want to book along with a reward flight on to a separate unrelated cheap flight booking to make that a holiday and earn TP from the hotel spend, but as far as I know it’s as yet untested under the new regime.

Don’t you get TPs on standard hotel bookings via BA now?

But as noted, you can package up pretty much anything as a BAH, so you could have 2 separate trips in one BAH, but the TPs aren’t going to post until you’ve completed the whole thing.

Also, the TPs will be split between the people on the booking.

You must have a flight as well as hotel or car to get tier points.

The booking must be for a British Airways Holidays Flight + Hotel or Flight + Car or Flight + Hotel + Car package.

Additionally, it must be a ‘real’ BAH, not a DIY one that might have all the characteristics of a BAH but nevertheless doesn’t meet the eligibility requirements for tier points.

British Airways Holidays tier points awards do not apply to any British Airways flight bookings where the hotel or car is added to a booking in a ‘Shopping Basket’ with individually priced flight and hotel and/or car components or when added in Manage my Booking after the flight has been booked.

My first point related to just booking a hotel on ba.com, not a BAH. The second point refers to adding flights and hotel/car to a package which don’t necessarily all fall within the same trip.
