Forums Other London life Uber from Bath Road hotel to T2?

Just wondering if anyone has experience of doing this around 7am?

Open to booking a black cab on freenow or gett as well but didn’t know if this caused logistical issues with the driver so would be unpopular/leave me hanging?

    Thanks

Ubers are dime a dozen around there, no issues getting one at that hour.

Are you leaving the hotel at 7am, or the flight is at 7am? We’ve had great difficulty before getting one at around 4am for a 7am flight. The TfL buses sometimes stop taking passengers on board with suitcases for “health and safety” reasons. Yes, on a bus route to an airport…

Anyway, last time this happened to us, we luckily managed to catch the hoppa bus at £7 each, one way. Just to avoid missing our flight.

It would be leaving the hotel at 7am and although I’m HBO, the hotel location isn’t all that convenient for a bus stop.

Also took an Uber 15 mins to get out the holding area for me last week, so don’t really want a repeat of that.

I just didn’t know if it messed up any sort of priority system if they accepted a short fare. Didn’t want them accepting the request then not moving for 15 mins to wait for me to cancel.

    Thanks

I’ve had “short fare” Uber around Heathrow a few times and never seems to be an issue. But your hotel may have an arrangement for a minicab, worth asking at check in

OK, so I stayed at the Courtyard on Bath Road last night. Very good, still had that new hotel smell, enjoyed a curry on the roof at PK’s.

Woke up slightly earlier than my alarm (it was the curry – i’ll say no more but my gut is clearly out of practice. I may have also eroded some of that new hotel smell. Sorry…)

So I was in the lobby by 7am. Bolt were claiming a car would whisk me to T2 for £8 – I was doubtful as £5 of that is the drop charge. Attempts to book the bottom 3 car categories were fruitless. Given Uber wanted close on £20 I was struggling to justify that given my extra 15-20 mins time buffer. Spotting a pilot in uniform walking out the hotel and heading for Bath Road this seemed like a no brainer.

Ended up on the 285 (with said pilot) and whilst not really swift it worked ok. The assumption I’d get a car with no hassle seems to have been a bit too ambitious although I admit the Bolt quote was in the too good to be true region.
