I imagine this has been answered somewhere previously, but for the life of me I can’t find it.
If you’ve booked a reward flight using a companion voucher to travel return in business (Club World) are you able to upgrade further, to First class, using Avios?
BA literature seems to obliquely mention that Avios funded upgrades on reward flights is possible via the ‘Manage my Booking’ link within their apps/website but I’ve never seen the hallowed ‘Upgrade this Booking with Avios’ link that they mention.
Is this because it just isn’t possible? Or because there’s no availability? Or because it can only be done over the phone? Anyone with working knowledge of this please let me know! We have a surfeit of points and would love to fly First over Club World!
It’s not an “upgrade” it’s a “change booking” and you can’t change class online so it’s a call in job
However since RFS came in for long haul (which doesn’t apply to First) I believe this causes some very weird numbers so it may not be worthwhile cost wise
