I know that as long as an ESTA has not expired you can fly into the US (i.e. it can expire when you’re there without issue), but is it OK to fly out of the UK into the US on the day the ESTA expires?
Thanks in advance.
My understanding is that the ESTA is valid until the end of the day of expiery, so you should be fine to enter the US on the day it expires. You must clear US customs before 23:59 on the day of expiry. While that may be the rule, I personally wouldn’t risk it and would shell out $21 for a new one. If my flight is delayed or cancelled and I end up having to travel the next day I wouldn’t want to be scrambeling for a last min ESTA. Doesn’t seem worth the risk to save $21.
Contact a US embassey or consulate for confirmation of the rules.
