Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club VA Points / Companion Voucher transfer between people?

  • jk.paul 1 post

    Hi,
I hope someone knows the answers to my queries ☺️ I have tried to search the site and forum without success.

I’m thinking about starting my partner off collecting VA Points to supplement my large-ish haul.

What I’m wondering is, can I gift points from my stash to hers once she’s setup?

Additionally/alternatively, could a Companion Voucher she earns be used with points from my account?

Also, does the person whose account earns points and/or a companion voucher have to be one of those flying on a reward/companion flight?

    Thanks very much 🤞🏼

You can transfer points for a flat fee of £10.

Voucher owner must fly UNLESS you are Silver or Gold in Flying Club, at which point you can transfer your voucher to someone else.

Rob the terms state otherwise…I think it’s changed now

I think there are two different things here:

    1. The ability to gift a voucher to someone else so that they can use it as though they had earned it, which requires the donor to be Silver or Gold.

    2. The ability to book someone else and/or use their points on a booking made by the person who earned the voucher.

They do seem to be flexible about the latter (at least that was the case pre-changes). I’ve certainly had no problems in making a booking with a voucher, mixing points from our accounts on different sectors even though we don’t have a household account (which requires Silver or higher status, whereas all our bookings to date have been made when we’ve both been Red).
