Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Virgin LHR Clubhouse flying KLM

Flying KLM to Amsterdam for a business trip next month and have VS Gold.
While I know the rules prohibit a person with VS Gold flying KLM accessing the Clubhouse at LHR, I note that Rob (or one of the HfP team) mentioned in the comments section that some travellers have been admitted in these circumstances.

Does anybody have experience of this happening? And if so, how much of a hassle it was?
If there’s a chance I could get in, I would opt for LHR over LCY for my departure airport.

It was a historically unwritten perk that you could – subject to the Clubhouse manager’s approval – access the Clubhouse, even if you weren’t flying on a VS service, so long as you were VS Gold. This would have applied in your scenario, and I write this for completeness given this result came up when searching for something else online.

However, this unwritten perk has been curtailed. Access to the Clubhouse when travelling with another airline as a VS Gold is no longer permitted, as explained here.
