Also, on 30th July, Aegean have nicely priced flights to Santorini (£37) and Tel Aviv (£41) if you want to avoid the high hotel costs of Athens. Lufty lounge is a nice place to be at Athens airport for a couple of hours when not busy, plus the new Aegean lounges are nice too. Hotel wise for Athens, I think prices will fall before 23rd/30th July. The Novotel has a fully refundable rate at £130 (plus early check in / late check out if Accor Gold+). Previously I have stayed at the Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza and the HI Airport. The Crowne Plaza would be my pick of those three, but all three are silly money for what they are. If you’re staying at the IC, better pack some 1970s clothes. Because that is exactly where the hotel still is. And on a pretty grim dual carriageway. Think of all the hotels at Heathrow on the Bath Road and that is pretty much the IC in Athens but with a decent breakfast.
