VS / Downgrade System-Wide Voucher – P Class

A niche question: I was preemptively offloaded with my consent (for a flight I never intended to take, post-covid) nearly three years ago, and I have just realised the system-wide is still valid (!). I’ll try and post an image of the instructions as a separate message.

The flights are booked into P class. Despite extensive searching, I can find out whether P class is effectively the same bucket at reward flights. Does anyone have an experience of this. I will call VS, but it would help my planning to know what might be available.

Some airlines have special booking codes for reward seat bookings, some don’t.

VS does, A: Economy reward, P: Premium reward, G: Upper Class reward.

I’m not sure about all the cash booking codes off the top of my head, and given that it’s not really relevant, theres not really any point going any further.

From memory, and in order of most to least flexible:

Upper: JCDIZ
Premium: WHKSP
Economy: YBRLUMEQZNO
Economy Light: T

VS are often quite flexible. Your real next port of call is to call them to talk through your options.

Rude of my not to reply to this. I did find the answer by calling them, of course.

Select vouchers do indeed come from the reward inventory, which is helpful when searching online. I found Virgin’s own month-wide reward calendar pretty unreliable – I thought I couldn’t go anywhere over Easter – but SeatSpy showed good availability that, when I checked on the VS website for specific dates, proved to be correct.

So that’s a ‘free’ trip (free as in no charges either) to California for me in April.
