Just wondering how long it should take for my 241 voucher to arrive in my BA account?
I “spent” a couple of days ahead of 31st October on a refundable hotel booking that went through in a timely fashion and took me above £10k spend so I could get the voucher ahead of the leap to £15k. When I look at “Track my Earnings” on the Amex app I can see an entry of 0 points for a BA Companion Ticket Bonus on the day the payment posted and the associated Avios has now been transferred to my BA account.
But still no voucher! From reading on here I would have expected it by now so might you kind folk any ideas on who to enquire after it with, or is it too early to chase?
My statement period closes in 2 days and I was hoping to cancel the hotel booking ahead of this once the voucher was safe in my account, so as not to carry a negative balance. I can cancel the hotel up until 20th Nov. Do you think if I cancelled now, ahead of statement closing and the 241 being in my account, I would still get it?
Thank you for any advice!
Have you had a voucher previously so know where you would find it in your BAEC account? If so, I would probably speak with Amex in the first instance and confirm it’s definitely been issued in case there are any glitches around the Nov 1st change date for the spend target. They normally appear within 24-48 hours, but the weekend might have slowed things down.
I can’t really say about the hotel, if it’s a large amount you’re going to end up with big negative avios balance regardless, plus extra spend requirement for the next year.
Same problem here, triggered companion voucher on 27 October but nothing in my BAEC account. Tried chat with Amex and BA a number of times to pass on the Amex validation number but get no where other than being told to wait. It is being investigated. Very frustrating. In the meantime, availability will be reducing (want to use 2 vouchers) and the extra seat I wanted for cash will no longer be in the sale ending today.
I have a feeling there was a similar issue a few months ago, but can’t remember how it was resolved. It’s Amex you need to persevere with though, as it’s their responsibility to get the voucher to your BAEC account.
Mine triggered on 28th Oct and appeared in my account (I got an email saying it had triggered too). I did my final £10 to Amazon on the evening of Friday 25th Oct – which “cleared” on Monday morning and triggered the voucher.
Thanks for the help everyone, and sorry to hear you’re in the same boat Cornerhouse. My trigger was 27th October also. Will get onto Amex later and feedback.
Same for me. Triggered on the 27th. AMEX chat confirmed voucher issued but suggested I might have to wait 2/3 weeks for BA to put it into my BAEC account.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a backlog due to so many people triggering their voucher prior to the increase in spending threshold.
Mine triggered on track my earnings on the 25th October, but I’ve not had an email and is still not in my BAEC account. I called Amex last Friday and they gave me a voucher reference and said it had definitely been issued on the 29th October and should only take 5 working days to appear in my BAEC account. I would suspect due to a few people being in the same boat of trying to meet the November spend deadline there is a backlog. It would be good if everyone who are waiting for their companion vouchers to appear in their account could tell us when they get it. I’m going to leave it a few days. If no joy I’ll contact Amex again to see if they can expedite the process.

Same for me, I hit spend on 25th on transaction track 0 points. I called Amex, they said it was issued by Amex to BA on 29th (Amex gave me the voucher ref) but was told it could take 5 working days?? It’s obviously beyond that now but I’ll give it to the end of the week before I chase it further. I’ll let you when I get it.
I was checking the spend threshold and was sure I had spent over the 10k requirement before the November 1st.
Spoke to agent on Amex app chat and they confirmed that I had indeed met the spend for the companion voucher and would receive it within 10-15 days but the voucher was confirmed as achieved on the 29th Oct.
Just a wait and see when it arrives in my BAEC account if it doesn’t will be chasing up again.
Looks like this might be an issue for a number of members. Thanks for posting. I was back on Amex chat and no progress. What does seem odd to me is that some members have triggered on or since the date I did (27th October) but have received the voucher within a couple of days as usual. Makes me worry that there is some sort of technical issue that can’t be addressed quickly. I really want to use the voucher today but can’t see that happening.
Similar story here – I qualified on 26th October, so contacted Amex on 29th for two reasons – 1, to ensure I had 100% qualified (given the app hasn’t shown my progress counter for a while, and also seeing as I was so close to the 1st November date) & 2, to see how long it would be before the voucher arrived.
I couldn’t get through on the Amex Contact Centre for love nor money, so tried the equally painful chat – the agent told me it will be with me I had 100% qualified, and therefore, voucher would arrive within 48hrs.
On the 31st, still wasn’t with me, so re-contacted, and they told me it’ll be there in the next 48hrs.
Wasn’t there, so called on Sat 2nd Nov, they told me it would reach me by 4th November and the agent had “expedited” the voucher to ensure its arrival (I had my eye on some flights..).
5th November, today, still no voucher. Have tried to call them, but after 19 minutes on hold, I hung up.
Feels like Amex’s usually very, very good contact centre/chat facility is in some sort of meltdown, as it isn’t like them. The voucher element is also quite frustrating as I do have my eye on some flight options.
I’ll watch this thread and see if others continue to have issues. I have a 90 minute drive home tonight, so I’ll sit in the queue on the way home and see if anyone answers -will update this if so!
Chris
Same story here. Triggered voucher on 28th Oct. Confirmed with chat agent that it had been earned. Still not recieved.
Quick update to my post from earlier – got through to AMEX this evening, and the agent told me they’d had “technical problems” with issuing vouchers, and they’ve got a backlog that they’re working through and aim to have outstanding ones issued by the end of this week. I did tell her that was the 5th version of events I’ve had, and with that, she apologised and offered me 5000 avios as an apology – so I snapped those up. Will leave it now until the end of this week and see what progress has been made.
Have you checked down the back of your sofa?

I think this is a sign of a devaluation.
I’ve had mine and an email from BA confirming it, I just scrapped in with the £10k spend just before the month end.
No sign of mine yet. Triggered 27 October so coming up to 2 weeks. I just keep getting told to wait.
Odd one on mine, I made an impulse purchase on the 30th which took me over £10k. The purchase didn’t post until the 6th Nov but with a date of the 30th Oct. I’d rather not have the voucher yet and there is no 0 point transaction. Let’s see what happens.
Hit the target on 27th/28th October yet no voucher still. Amex live chat told me 1/2 calendar months. I was shocked and actually asked them if it was a joke or error. But nope. 1/2 is what I’ve been told.
Looks like there’s a backlog / technical issue. Wish they were honest instead of telling me I might have to wait 4-8 weeks. I had plans to book flights soon.

We also hoped to have booked flights already with ours.
I spoke with Amex chat today and they told me it should have been issued by now. Apparently they have opened an investigation and I should get an update in 7 to 10 business days. Clearly no consistency going on in terms of response.
Returning here with an update – got mine this afternoon. Triggered on 27 October, started investigation with BA on 31 October, told it would take 7-10 business days to get a resolution. So got it at the lower end of the time frame.
