Evening all. This is a pretty niche request but I’m in discussions with BA about compensation for them failing to re book me within 12 months of FLIGHT date but more than 12 months of TICKET date.
They have cited article 29 of the Data Protection Working Party’s Working Document on IATA Recommended Practice 1774.
To quote them “It should be noted that the adopted one-year validity period for unused tickets is ‘recommended practice’ by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) under Article 29 of the Data Protection Working Party’s Working Document on IATA Recommended Practice 1774.”
Can anyone point me to a free copy of Article 29? It’s about £1100 to purchase and I doubt I’m going to use it too often.
Article 29 working group was a loose cooperation forum of European data protection authorities that occasionally issuaed clarifying non-binding guidance on the 1995 EU data protection directive.
Both the directive and Article 29 were superseded in 2018 by the GDPR and the European Data Protection Board respectively.
