British Airways is expanding its weekend operation from London Stansted with the launch of flights to Split in Croatia.

Flights will begin on 7th September and will operate alongside the Heathrow service. It is a very limited service with the last flight currently showing as 5th October.

British Airways launches Split flights from London Stansted

Here are the flight times:

  • 12.55 Saturday from London Stansted, arrives in Split at 16.20
  • 17.05 Saturday from Split, arrives in London Stansted at 18.45

I’m not sure how this fits around the existing London Stansted operation. BA will launch three routes for summer 2024 from Stansted:

  • Florence
  • Ibiza
  • Nice

All three routes will be operated by BA Cityflyer and will commence on 18th May. All three of these routes have INBOUND flights to Stansted on a Saturday (returning from an outbound from London City) and then fly OUTBOUND on a Sunday, with the return going into London City.

It’s not clear if Split is a one-off or if we will see other routes added or Split extended as we head into the winter. Florence, Ibiza and Nice are all continuing after 7th September so Split does not seem to be replacing any of these.

All Stansted flights will be on Embraer 190 aircraft. These have 2×2 seating in both Club Europe and Euro Traveller.

Unlike Cityflyer flights from London City, there IS a lounge at Stansted – the Escape lounge. It’s pretty poor and usually heaving, although the upcoming Emirates lounge will relieve a lot of the pressure on it. Our last review of the Escape lounge at Stansted is here.

The new Stansted to Split flights are bookable now at ba.com.

  • Richie says:

Thanks Rob. I note there isn’t a BA arrival at STN 45 mins before 12.55, so my guess is more routes to be announced.

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Plane likely arrives from X into LCY pn Saturday morning then hops over to STN to operate thos flight.

      • Richie says:

Too risky due to the LCY saturday curfew.

        • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Which starts around 12.30 so still plenty of time for an AM arrval

There are e.g. Saturday AM arrivals from BER and AMS at 7.00 ish for example so landing then hopping to STN perfectly possible.

BA have done this before so they know what they are doing!

        • Michael Jennings says:

At which point you say thank you for the 400 euros and then make other plans.

  • Petros says:

Strangely, I don’t see these flights after October 12th…

    • Michael Jennings says:

Most flights to the Croatian coast are summer only. I find this odd, because it is lovely out of season.

    • Jim says:

…alongside LHR. BA also serves SPU from LCY thrice a week.

  • Richie says:

Split may have cooled off a bit by then.

  • paul-uk says:

Really love Split – but much rather sail in on a cruise

  • Maples says:

I’m really split whether or not I want to go back to Stansted since it was so crammed.
