£20.12 rooms at 180 Holiday Inn & Crowne Plaza’s across the UK – 2 days to book!

Well, this is one promo I didn’t expect to see again!  But here it is.

For TODAY (Friday) and TOMORROW (Saturday) only, you can book rooms for £20.12 at over 180 Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza hotels across the UK!

£20.12

Here is the full list of participating hotels (deleted as link now dead).

Some of these properties are usually very expensive indeed.

All bookings are room-only, except at Holiday Inn Express where breakfast is free for everyone.  You need to pay for internet access at all of these hotels, if that is important to you.

The rules are generally straightforward.  Pay upfront, no refunds, stay between 22 December and 10 February.  These rooms will not earn Priority Club points or count towards status, although you should receive status benefits if you have it.

Availability, I have to say, is VERY limited at the super-expensive London hotels.  However, it does exist.  Here is Crowne Plaza – The City for Christmas Day as of 6am today:

£20.12

I also found a Monday to Friday 4-night run available at the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum and HI Stratford City amongst others.

The only confusion is here: “Offer is limited to 2 rooms per household. Hotels have the right to refuse to honour rooms booked in excess of the 2 room limit.”

What does this mean?  2 rooms at the same hotel at the same time?  2 rooms in total over the whole promotion?  2 room NIGHTS in total, or unlimited nights as long as you only make 2 bookings?  This restriction has not been there before.

Jump in – if you can find something!

  1. Disappointing, you did well to find the night at the city. Couldnt find anything at CP city for HI mayfair or HI Kensington for Feb

    • Still some stuff left. As at 10.10am, Mon 21 Jan has HI Mayfair, HI Regents Park, HI Commercial Road, HI Brent Cross, HI Stratford City plus all the Heathrow ones, for example.

Frankly, if you work in London you might as well book HI Mayfair and save the train fare!

    • I just found HI Mayfair for Mon 4 Feb

  2. Chipping Norton Crowne Plaza looks nice- just got 2 nights there.

  3. And interestingly it did show points earned on the booking.

  4. Johnny5a says:

Funny this – at the top of the room selection i see this “Book rooms for £20.12 rooms on 20 December 2011 from 00.01 hours to 23.59 hours for stays between 26th December 2011 and 31st January 2012 at participating hotels. “

  5. Managed to get CP Kensington

  6. I found the same as Rich – it offered me points on the booking (320 I think) which is always nice!

A semi-related question – I dont stay in hotels very often and I am keen to build up my Avios collection – should I be channeling the points into BAEC instead or it there any PC benefit to having them?

    Thanks,

    James

    • For very occasional hotel stays, take the Avios – just show your card at check in for most chains. No point building up a handful of hotel points.

      • pazza2000 says:

Good tip. So just simply show the card at check-in and Miles are awarded in place of points?

        • Yup, 500 (see ba.com for details). But points are better if you get all the bonuses to trip. And, technically, if your rate qualifies for miles then it will also qualify for points.

          • trickster says:

You need to tread carefully with airline points options. I once did a 4 night stay in the South Lake Tahoe HIX and only got 100 BAEC miles! I was kicking myself – would have earned many more PC points if I had that option set.

  7. IHG’s website showing points earned on non-qualifying rates is sadly a well known IT glitch, a bit like ba.com showing fictitious TPs and Avios for redemption bookings.

You may or may not get the points depending on the hotel’s whim at the time!

  8. Fabulous! Just got East Mids. Airport hotel in Jan for the day before we fly out to Canaries. Bargain.

  9. Is there any good way to search across a broad date range to see which days are still on dicsount or are you forced to do it day by day?

    • Usually you can use travelocity.com (not .co.uk) by searching for a hotel and not putting in a date. Doesn’t work here as these are not public rates, though.

  10. Also point to note, it seems that the Holiday Inn Express offer free hot buffet breakfast. I’ve booked another room around Christmas for 2 adults and 2 children. This breakfast alone has to be worth nearly £20!

    • Don’t get your hopes up – the hot options are usually dried up scrambled eggs and very cheap sausage, or baked beans if you are really lucky!

  11. Jens Moller says:

I booked a ‘family room’ for two nights at Holiday inn Portsmouth. Nice pool, the kids will love it.

Thanks for the ‘heads up’ !!!

  12. Richard Harris says:

Thanks for the info – got a room at Brighton and Cambridge.

    Appreciated!

  13. Wouldn’t have known about this if it wasn’t for Raffles. Just booked two nights at the Crowne Plaza – The City at the start of Febuary, and two nights at the Holiday Inn: Regents Park in January.

  14. Still seems to be availability for a few places down south for a Fri Night at the start of Jan.
We’re based in SW London and I was wondering if anyone can advise on the “better” Holiday Inn’s to visit (Nice pool etc) which is within a couple of hours drive?

    • Maidenhead has a pool and is very close to Cliveden for sightseeing. The one time I stayed there I got a very nice refurbished room. CP Marlow also a decent pool (lots of kids there as near Legoland) and well placed for walks up and down the Thames to Marlow and Bourne End.

  15. Seems the CP City keeps on adding rooms. I’ve just booked a second room for Sat 9 Feb, having booked one last night. No rooms at all were available when I first checked yesterday morning, then I got one last night, then I tried to book a second one later last night and none were available but one was a couple of minutes ago. I’m chuffed!

  16. Following a delightful £20.12 stay last year at the HI Mayfair (we were upgraded), I’ve just booked 2 nights in early January – I was surprised that I could have booked a 3-night stay.

‘Points earned’ showed up during the booking process but show as 0 in the confirmation.

    • “‘Points earned’ showed up during the booking process but show as 0 in the confirmation.”

      Same here.
