Yes, I know.  It’s not very rock’n’roll, using 34,000 Avios to get into Disneyland Paris aka EuroDisney.

It’s not even exceptional value for Avios points.  The best cash price I could find for 2 adults and 2 children to Disneyland Paris was £206.  Using 34,000 Avios (9,000 for adults and 8,000 for children) means I get just 0.61p per point.

However, as I’ve written before on Head for Points, the right redemption for you is NEVER a bad redemption.

It just seemed a wrench to pay £206, especially when I could order the tickets online (you don’t even need to ring avios.com for Disneyland Paris tickets).  We’re not paying for the Eurostar tickets or InterContinental Le Grand in Paris either.

It’s not going to make much of a dent in our combined Avios balance.

I should say, to redeem myself, that I have just blown 60,000 Avios and a 241 to take my Mum to Niagara Falls next year in BA First  (60,000 is 2 x one-way tickets as we will be coming back separately.)  That works out at substantially better value than 0.61p per point.

I’m not planning to do a trip report on Disneyland but I might put together a quick summary, especially on the ease of taking the RER from central Paris.  I will also let you know if Eurostar Standard Premier food has improved from my experience earlier in the year.

    You are of course right about the right redemption!
    I just used 9000 avios for 2 of us to fly to Dublin with AI
    It only saved about £60 total of the standard one way fare, but did include 20kg each luggage.
    1.5 per avios
    So pretty poor redemption value, but the object was a cut price holiday:( except the hotels of course)

      Don’t want to stay there – kids want to see Paris – and a junior suite on site in the 5 star is £1000 per night ( and reviews are terrible). IntCon is free!

        You can stay in Disneyland and still see Paris. The RER travels in both directions!

        The 5 star is overpriced but the 4 star hotels offer good value if you take advantage of the special offers.

        The only ‘free’ option on site is the Radisson Blu but, annoyingly, family rooms are never available for Club Carlson points.

    I can bet that the food on euro star has not changed, I would just you buy from from Pret or a slimier standard and just take the free drinks from euro star!

      For an evening Eurostar Standard Premier departure from London, I normally grab a small salad from M&S which I eat in the lounge, then have the offering on board. The evening food isn’t enough on its own, but makes a nice follow-on if you eat something else!

      Raffles should be fine. The are selling the ownership to Constellation but will still retain the management contract for the next 60 years. So unless you are planning a visit in 2075, redemptions should be quite safe…

        Interesting. Qatar again. Via Constellation Qatari interests also hoovered up a number of other hotels recently including a number run by Starwood. Very very clever longterm strategy to invest in such portfolios of assets.

    Enjoy Disneyland! I have inherited about 2 million Avios from our family account and hope to take my mum and girlfriend to Austrailia next year hopefully in first. Not sure the best way to go about this eg value for points but I will keep an eye on here! Thanks for all your good advise.

      If you have 2 million to use it is a doddle, as you can use any oneworld airline – BA, Qatar, Malaysian, Qantas etc. People who struggle with Oz are those who are forced to use BA because they want to use an Amex 2-4-1 voucher.

    It would be great to hear your thoughts on Disneyland Paris, especially as a ‘side trip’ from Paris itself. By the way, the image used is of Hong Kong Disneyland and not Disneyland Paris 😉
