BA and AA have launched ‘double miles’ promotions on certain routes for Club World and First Class passengers, valid until the end of the year.

It is a decent deal if you need to travel on one of the routes featured.  These are:

  • Heathrow to Singapore, Delhi, New York, Chicago, Jo’burg, Dubai, Lagos, Moscow, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Miami, Mexico City
  • Heathrow via Madrid on Iberia to Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Bogota
  • Manchester to Chicago, New York (on the non-stop AA flights)

Full details and registration can be found here.  Check carefully that your booking class is included.

If you collect American Airlines miles, there is a similar promotion available.  This offers double miles when you fly business or first class on the following routes:

  • London Heathrow to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Mexico City, New York JFK, Newark, Philadelphia and Raleigh/Durham
  • Manchester to Chicago and New York JFK

You need to register to earn double miles, by going to this page.

For routes served by both AA and BA (eg Heathrow to New York) it doesn’t matter which airline you fly.  You can fly AA and still get double Avios if you credit your flight to BA, or you could fly BA and get double AA miles if you wanted by crediting your flight to AAdvantage.
