IHG Rewards Club clarifies the ‘free internet’ position in Europe

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about how IHG Rewards Club appeared to be back-tracking on its much touted promise of offering free internet at all Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and InterContinental hotels in Europe.
An email just dropped into my inbox with a clarification.
Free internet will be available at all IHG hotels in Europe from July. You will need to be a IHG Rewards Club member, but as that is free and as you can join at the reception desk, it will effectively apply to everyone.
You should still expect a two track service, though, with a slow free service and a high-speed (video quality) service available at an additional charge.
Some hotels will do better – a recent visit to Holiday Inn Stratford found that all guests already receive free internet and Platinum members receive the faster £6 premium service for free.
