More free Avios via Avios Suitcase … including 20 secret ones

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

Yes, I know, its only a handful of Avios. However, I feel I have a moral obligation to share this one given that this is what Head for Points is all about! Miles earning tips so trivial that no-one else will print them …..

I have written about Avios Suitcase before. It is a Facebook application that lets you earn Avios points in by completing a few simple tasks, such as following Avios UK on Facebook and Twitter.  If you haven’t played before, you should be able to earn around 150 Avios very quickly.

(The linked post talks of over 300 Avios.  However, the tasks seem to have been devalued in recent weeks.)

Avios Suitcase

There are two reasons why you SHOULD play Avios Suitcase:

The points post overnight (or within 48 hours at most), so you aren’t hanging around for them

They reset the clock for the ‘earn 1 Avios every 12 months to use Reward Flight Saver’ privilege at Remember that has better European availability for economy Avios flights than, so there is a real chance that you may occasionally end up booking via even if your main account is at

A new sticker appeared on my wifes Avios Suitcase account this week – ‘Avios Adviser’.  This encourages you to visit their Facebook page and leave a tip about collecting Avios.  (I recommend you write ‘Read Head for Points every day’!)

You don’t need to actually need to write anything on the Facebook page, though.  Just click ‘Share’ and you get your 20 Avios.

And a secret bonus!

Even if you have already ‘earned’ all the ‘stickers’ at Avios Suitcase, you won’t have earned these 20 bonus points though!  This is what you do:

Log into Facebook via the mobile app and visit the official Heathrow Airport page. Click ‘Check In’ – it will set your status to “xxxxx is at Heathrow Airport”. You do not need to be at Heathrow to do this!

Log into the Avios Suitcase app. You will have an alert waiting for you which thanks you for checking in at Heathrow. If you look at your Avios Suitcase points balance, it will have increased by 20 Avios.

There is no mention of this offer on the Heathrow or Avios Suitcase sites, but it definitely works as long as you use the mobile app.

Off topic: Large scale hacking of Tesco Accounts to steal vouchers:

I warned of this on pts last month. No one seemed bothered! Very lucrative crime I think!

  • vicky says:

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I added the Avios suitcase app to my account a couple of months ago, but I have not been able to find any stickers ever and I have generated no points. It does say I have the ‘ Beta’ version, though- but I am guessing we all do?

    • TimS says:

Yes I can confirm that everyone has the beta version of the app.

When the app loads what screen do you get? You should get a screen with 6-10 empty badges called strange things like “Avios informer”. Clicking on each of them should tell you what to do to “earn” the sticker & get the avios.

If you don’t get to this page & are instead stuck on a brightly coloured advert-style page, click on the orange bar in the middle & hopefully the app will continue to load up properly. (This happened to me once).

      • vicky says:

Hello, thanks- i just had an idea and removed then reinstalled the app! Now works fine and already earned 55 avios today!

  • Deeno says:

This has been a great little earner for me. With around 500 Avios from it. When it first started Avios Suitcase seemed to be the SA version so I got the initial points for that. When it changed to the UK version I got the points again. I’ve done all the above today and I’ve just shared 5 stickers for a 50 Avios “Pioneer” Sticker. The points post instantly and then I delete the posts from my Timeline. Today I have earned 90 Avios for free – I’d need to spend £90 on by BA Amex for that so for me its worth two minutes of my day.

  • Andy says:

Just did this and also saw another new sticker called ‘Avios Goal Twitter’? It asks you tweet what you are saving Avios for.

  • Martin says:

Thanks, Raffles, you just saved me some money! I had no idea had better RFS availability than BA. I was about to buy a ticket on BA but has RFS availability for my flight.

  • neuromancer says:

Avios don’t post overnight anymore, been waiting for 2 days already. They are visible in the suitcase balance.

    • Werner says:

That’s also what I experienced. Can anybody confirm a 24h to 48h avios transfer within the last 10 days?

      • Werner says:

It took full 7 days to transfer the points from the suitcase to the avios account: Feb 11-18. So be patient.

  • pacifoco says:

    Hello Raffles,
Anyway way I can join for non-UK Resident? I am from Hong Kong and do you think any problem it will cause if I just sign up with a dummy UK address? Thanks!

    • Rob says:

You’ll be fine. They may post you a plastic card at some point, so pick an address that really exists like a big apartment block or mixed use office building.

The email, name and date of birth you use must be the same as your BA account or ‘Combine My Avios’ won’t work.

  • Andy says:

Avios Suitcase hasn’t posted even though I got the Avios advisor more than 3 days ago
