News in brief:

Get 20% off your next five Uber trips

Uber has launched a new UK voucher code offering a 20% discount on your next five trips.  It doesn’t seem to be targetted but you’ll never know until you try.

You need to go into the ‘Promotions’ section of the Uber app and enter the code MASTERCARD205.  You then need to switch your payment method to a MasterCard.

You will save 20% off your next five rides as long as the rides are taken by midnight on Friday 1st July.   UberTAXI in London is excluded.

If you still haven’t signed up for Uber, you get your first UK ride for free – up to the value of £15 – by downloading the app and entering the code HEADFORPOINTS.  To avoid any risk of losing your free ride, don’t enter the MasterCard code until after you’ve used up your free ride.

Interesting Hilton @Play auction

Finally, this Hilton @Play auction looks interesting and has no bids to date.

On Sunday 21st August, you can have Afternoon Tea for two, including a glass of champagne on arrival, at the Waldorf Hilton in London which is just off the Strand.  You can also take part in the Sunday tea dance if you want!

After that, you will get a free dinner for two people and one night in the Astor Suite in the hotel, with executive lounge access and breakfast.

The minimum bid is 75,000 Hilton HHonors points and it may well go for that.  It would be pretty good value if you did.  Bidding closes on 24th June.

PS.  Before anyone asks, because this question always comes up – the Waldorf in London is not run as part of Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria chain.  It is very smart but lower level hotel and therefore branded as the Waldorf Hilton.  The Palm Court where the tea dances and afternoon tea take place is particularly impressive.  You can find out more about the hotel here.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (December 2024)

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit and debit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

There are two dedicated Hilton Honors debit cards. These are especially attractive when spending abroad due to the 0% or 0.5% FX fee, depending on card.

Uber 20% code doesn’t work for me, says it’s only for new members so probably targeted

    • Rob says:

Odd, not new members as had my account for years. Thanks for checking.

    • Andy says:

Worked fine for me, and I’ve been a member for a couple of years. I don’t use it much, though, so maybe that’s why they’ve targeted me.

  • Louise says:

Uber works for me and not a new member. Thanks Raffles

  • harry says:

Bits: those Moneycorp options are out of the money, methinks 🙂

    • harry says:

Just breaking through $1.47 – apparently the private polls (paid for in the City) are pretty decisive, 3 days out

  • Zander says:

I’ve never understood why Waldorf Hilton isn’t a Waldorf Astoria hotel as having stayed there it’s an impressive hotel and the service was very good from what I recall.

If I bid and win, do I have to be the one taking the reward or can someone else go in my place as I’ll be out of the country.

    • Rob says:

I imagine they are flexible. I gift SPG Moments deals all the time.

  • AndyGWP says:

Uber code worked for me too… thanks.

Any idea on the chances of it working abroad? :/

  • Dan says:

OT: I received an email from Curve Card this afternoon, inviting me to join their “early adopters club”

Not sure what it is?! But just wondering if others had received the same?

    • harry says:

      They’ve used that expression before:
As a big thank you for being one of Curve’s early adopters we are giving Blue card members £35 and Black card members £50 worth of Curve Points if you spend a total of £1000 over the next three months. You’ll be able to spend your Curve Points at any merchant that accepts MasterCard using your Curve.

    • Alan says:

They’ve sent it to me too despite me not having a card as they never launched their Android app so I couldn’t change the default card away from an Amex that they no longer support!
