News in brief:

Did you win 18,000 Avios from Avis?

I heard from six readers yesterday who were among the 100 people who won 18,000 Avios in the recent Avis competition we wrote about.

Do post below if you won but didn’t contact me yesterday.  I would be interested to see how many of us won.

Star Alliance Gold free Heathrow Express upgrade is back

It seems that Star Alliance and Heathrow Express have kissed and made up.  After a brief hiatus, I have now had a couple of reports that conductors are again now allowing Star Alliance Gold cardholders to upgrade to First Class for free on Heathrow Express.

Air Canada even emailed its elite members about the offer this week so I confident that you won’t be sent down to Standard Class if you give it a go.

  1. I was one of the winners of the BA competition 18000 Avios! Nice surprise and only knew about it because Head for Points told me about it thank you

  2. Nothing here, have not won anything for a while now. Did get 1,000 avios back for the buy-on-board food thing though, but I will likely spend more than that on the flight though.

  3. Entered every day, bar the first, and received a winning email yesterday.

  4. I most likely haven’t won but unfortunately I don’t have access to that email address for the next couple of weeks (out of mobile coverage and work computer blocks web mail!) – do you need to respond to them if you have won or do the points just appear in your account?

  5. N. Ford says:

Emily, no need to respond to the email – if indeed you received one! – and it says the points should appear on your BA Executive Club account within eight weeks.

  6. I won and I never win anything – until now! Entered every day. Thanks so much HFP!

  7. Rob, I won the 18k avios too! I entered (nearly) every day for everyone in my household account! Thanks for posting about the competition!

  8. Just to say thanks to your site I entered for the additional Avios competition and received an email yesterday saying I’d won.

    So many thanks!

  9. melonfarmer says:

Hi Rob, I won too after entering every day. Thanks for letting me know.

  10. Frenske says:

FYI I’ve received 1000 Avios on for collecting somewhere new. Converted £1.34 to 169 Avios.

  11. Andrew H says:

I’ve also received my 1k bonus. Colour me impressed! I got mine by transferring one Tesco voucher.

This just goes to show that if the site is on top of these promos, they can award the bonuses QUICKLY.

    Virgin Flying Club take note!

Now, can BA do the same with their bonus?
