  Looks like coming back is an overnight stop (quite a few of the Far East Asia carriers seem to have good timings going out to Australia, but not so good coming back).

  Is a hotel included in the cost? Years ago I had a RTW with KLM/NW and that included an hotel stay in Amsterdam if required. As I didn’t use the return leg for nearly a year, the staff in London were adamant it didn’t exist, but I made them check and they conceded. Free transport to/from Schipoll as well! Stayed at that hotel on the corner of Dam Rak opposite the station. Very nice for a Y fare!!

  Booked London-Melbourne 14 Feb 18-19 Feb return. Do Garuda offer complimentary hotel for long layovers? Also do they still serve caviar and lobster in business? I am guessing they stopped the limo for business passengers in 2014 as I can not find any mention of it since then….

  I flew First Class form Jakarta on Sunday and returning from Heathrow tomorrow , and it was pretty good , certainly better than BA but not quite CX

  On the safety front , i have taken over 250 flights with Garuda (mainly domestic) and never had a worry or a problem , they have certainly invented themselves over the past 5-10 years , Domestic Business class leaves European carriers well behind.

  The price above wouldn’t be available or anywhere near using the AMS route , that route has very high yields (due to historic and commercial reasons) the LHR route is struggling due to the timing of the Jakarta to Heathrow route , which leaves at 7.20 am , 90 min stopover in SIN) its certainly a long day time route , only downside of Garuda , the IFE isn’t that good but at £1100 to MEL its a steal …..

  No Hotel with Stopovers , i would recommend either Ibis Styles or the Orchard , Ibis is a decent choice , avoid the sheraton , its a disgrace , very old , dirty and highly over priced

  No Caviar or Lobster , only in First Class but the food is decent quality , especially the Indonesian dishes

  No car transfer either in Jakarta or London ( They offer in Jakarta only for First)

  Tried without fail to get this deal. Click on all the flights – get the special price, put in name and contact details then get error message – this happens no matter how many times you alter the dates. Called Garuda and they say all the special seat prices have gone. Don’t waste your time on this!

    I just booked a return to Melbourne in June and it works fine, albeit with an overnight stopover in Jakarta. Try using a different browser or a private/incognito tab.

  if they are providing hotel , which is good , just be careful your not in the back of beyond .. you will need to be at the airport by 6am latest

  Check in and immigration is quick , it takes about 2 mins to check in to Lounge including having your passport stamped etc , its the quickest i have ever found .
