Avios Ireland: 200 Avios via SuperValu for (almost) every eShop purchase

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

As a reminder, our coverage of Avios Ireland (AerClub) is exclusively on the Head for Points website.  You will not receive these articles via our daily emails unless it is a deal which UK residents can take part in.

We have written about the relationship between Irish supermarket chain SuperValu and AerClub a few times.

Basically, 1 SuperValu Real Rewards point (which you get for spending €1 instore) converts into 1 Avios point.

Until 10th August, you will receive 200 bonus Real Rewards points for EVERY online shopping transaction made via SuperValu eShops.  This contains over 100 retailers.

This time around, SuperValu has brought in some exclusions.  The following merchants do not count: eBay, AliExpress, GearBest, iTunes SuperValu Getaway Breaks, SuperValu Home, Travel and Car Insurance and SuperValu Online Grocery Shopping. Last time there were also tracking issues with ebooks bought via Kobo.

Because you can earn the bonus an unlimited number of times, there may be some potential here for multiple purchases of low value items.

You can read more about this offer here and there is a FAQ here.

Don’t forget that AerClub is offering a TRIPLE bonus on transfers of SuperValu points to Avios before 31st August.  If your 200 bonus points arrive in time then you’d be getting 600 Avios for every SuperValu eShops purchase.  However, this is unlikely for most products as transactions will not validate until the deadline for returning the product for a refund has passed.

Kobo is now in the list of excluded merchants: AliExpress, eBay, GearBest, Kobo Bookstore, iTunes, SuperValu Car Insurance, SuperValu Home Insurance, SuperValu Travel Insurance,, Getaway Breaks

unless they are separating ebooks from books ?!

any other suggestions for what to buy cheaply ??

  • James says:

I have made 25 €1 purchases of software from DHGate. Waiting to see if they confirm before buying more.

Should work out at 0.5p per point and 0.17p if I’m lucky and they confirm before the 31st

    • Dr Tom says:

Please let us know. I was just going through DHGate for exactly that reason. Items with minimum order 1 piece and free shipping.

Another possible option would be the Microsoft store, as they have plenty of downloadable apps and games available for under 1 euro each.

      • James says:

All the software from DHgate is is free shipping guessing it is just an electronic delivery.

Could get stuff even cheaper than €1 but that is the minimum purchase.

Would be nicer to repeat for €0.25 purchases 🙂

  • Keith says:

Microsoft sub-€10 now excluded. I overdosed on rubbish songs over the last few months;)

  • Sharon says:

This offer has been extended – 200 Real Rewards Bonus points per tracked transaction from Friday 28th July to Thursday 17th August 23:59. Points will be added to your eShops account within 2 weeks of the promotion end date.
