BOOKABLE TODAY: New IHG PointBreaks list of 100 x 5,000 point hotels

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The new list of 100 IHG Rewards Club (the Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc group) PointBreaks redemption hotels is bookable from today.

PointBreaks rooms are a fantastic deal if they fit with your travel patterns.

All of the hotels below will be available for just 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night, saving up to 25,000 points per night in some cases.

PointBreaks availability is very limited so book ASAP if you are interested. Bookings are refundable as with a standard reward reservation so there is nothing to lose.  IHG works on US time – they are meant to go live about 5pm UK time but are often there an hour or so earlier.  It could be 2pm based on recent lists.

You can book via the IHG PointBreaks page here or via the standard booking page here.  If the PointBreaks page has not yet been updated, it does not necessarily mean that the special deals below will not already be bookable – do a search on the hotel you want to check.

You will be able to book these hotels for stays up to 31st January.

You are allowed a maximum of two bookings per individual hotel. Each booking can be for as many nights as you want.

Remember that if you attempt to amend your booking later by dropping a night or two the whole booking will reprice at the full rate.

Unfortunately, this is a very America-centric list.  Pickings are thin elsewhere.

As usual, it is an – ahem – eclectic list.  The most interesting one, to me, is Crowne Plaza Belfast – see the pictures above and below.  If you want to visit the Titanic museum as well as check out some ‘Game of Thrones’ filming locations, this could be good.  It is not in the city centre, however.  We all have our individual travel schedules for the next three months and – if any of these hotels prove suitable for your itinerary – you’ve got a great deal.

I pride myself on my geography, but I’ve simply never heard of a lot of the places on that list.

  • Mike G says:

The usual non-event from ihg. You really need to stop covering this in such detail, Rob, it’s total carp.

  • Tariq says:

Damn, booked a night at Cannock last week – I stay there quite a lot so hopefully might get some value out of this!

  • TripRep says:

I suspect the ones in the US are useful one nighters for folks passing through on a long road trip. In the UK, Preston & Birmingham may off the same appeal….

    • Andrew says:

Yes, I’ve used Preston HI many times for that purpose. Both for splitting rail journey and splitting a road journey. I also sometimes stay at the MacDonald’s by J31 – often get a good deal there.

    • Gavin says:

Route M6 not quite Route 66

      • Liz says:

We’ve managed to switch out a few of our USA road trip bookings for the points breaks offers and saved some points over the last couple of years. Won’t be back in the USA till 2019 now.

        • Michael Jennings says:

I have a Mexican road trip coming up. I managed to get one useful hotel out of this offer, so that’s something. I am sure more would have been possible if it were a longer trip.

    • RussellH says:

Cannock is well placed for an M6 stopover, yes, though my first stay there will be on Thursday. I need a few cheap cash stays for accelerate! I do not see Preston as convenient for a motorway stopover though; the HI is in the middle of town – near the bus station as I recall?

The Naples one could be good for a Gulf coast stopover to the FL Keys from Tampa

  • Ralphy says:

Holiday Inn Nampa works for me as was looking for somewhere to stop for a night between a drive from Salt Lake City to Seattle in January!

The Crowne Plaza Panama could have worked at a different time as always wanted to go to Panama. As usual, a very disparate list but it will work for some somewhere and when it does it is a veritable bargain so no Rob, please do not stop coveting this in such detail.

  • Anna says:

OT but an offer seems to have appeared on my free BA Amex – 500 avios with £25 Amazon spend, valid till 31/12.

    • the real harry1 says:

sounds good – joins the other 4 Amazon offers I listed on https://headforpoints.com/2017/10/27/starwood-preferred-guest-and-uber-end-partnership/comment-page-1/#comments

so £46 free money per Amz a/c potentially up for grabs

    • Genghis says:

Thanks Anna. It’s only on my wife’s card. No more Amex trickery. RIP.

      • the real harry1 says:

somebody knows how, IT bod speak up?

        • Genghis says:

I asked our IT bods at work. They said not without hacking Amex server…

        • the real harry1 says:

in that case, anybody who wants last shout & doesn’t have the Esso x3 (=£15 off £50), give me a bell

        • Ron says:

@the real harry. Also interested in the esso offer ID. Would you prefer sharing it here or via email!? Cheers!

        • the real harry1 says:

@Ron sure, give me a contact, eg HUKD user ID (you can set one up in 30 secs) if you want to keep email private, I’m not on Twit or FT

        • Louise says:

@harry whats the esso x3? I have esso x1 (£5) on my account ? my hukd is vanilla8

        • Ron says:

@the real harry. My HUKD id is ron7 Cheers!

      • TripRep says:

Genghis, sure I got a similar one working on my wife’s a/c when that had already switched over to the new layout

TRH – interested in the Esso offer

        • Genghis says:

@TripRep. I’d appreciate a heads up. You know my email. If you know the offer ID, it’s still easy to manipulate. The trouble is is finding the offer ID of this new Amex offer…

        • TripRep says:

See what you mean, IIRC it was still during transition period to the new AMEX web format, so I got the code from my own account (old style at the time) and managed to get it working on my wife’s a/c (new style). Of course both our a/cs (and everyone’s elses) are now new style, so code not visible. 🙁

        • the real harry1 says:

          sent

    • Andrew says:

Thanks! Saved to my BA card

Kensington based mate of mine got a £30 off £100 spend at Harrods yesterday on a BA card – not on mine.

  • Fastbowler says:

As Rob points out the Crowne Plaza Belfast is an excellent points redemption. While Titanic Belfast and Games of Thrones locations certainly are highlights there are lots of other interesting things to see and do in Belfast plus many really good restaurants. While the hotel is indeed not in the city centre it is not an impossible walk and alternatively is an easy bus or taxi ride. The hotel is also right beside the very pleasant Lagan Valley Regional Park. Well worth 5000 points.
