UPDATE – APRIL 2024:  This article is now out of date, but don’t worry.  We produce a monthly summary of the top hotel bonus point offers – please click HERE or use the ‘Hotel Offers’ menu above.

Marriott Bonvoy is offering 1,000 bonus points per night and double elite night credits on stays between 13th February and 29th April. Click here to read more and click here to register.

Keep up to date with new hotel offers by signing up for our free daily or weekly newsletters.

Three days ago we looked at the new Marriott Rewards promotion, Megabonus, for Spring 2018 (click here).  This offers 2,000 bonus points per stay, or 3,000 points at weekends.

Starwood has now launched its own Spring promotion.  With Starwood now owned by Marriott, the promotion is not surprisingly very similar.  The dates are identical.

The SPG offer is called ‘Great Weeks, Grand Weekends’.   It may be better than the Marriott Rewards offer if you are doing longer or more expensive stays because you are getting double points rather than a flat bonus.

You need to register here – and with the offer running until 15th April, you might as well do it now in case you forget.

The offer is very simple:

You receive double Starwood Preferred Guest points on every stay, starting with your 2nd stay

You get an extra 500 points if your stay includes a Friday or Saturday night (Thu/Fri in Middle East)

These are the summary rules:

Promotion runs from 16th January to 15th April

Registration is open now at this page and closes on 31st March

All Marriott brands are included – this includes Sheraton, Westin, Aloft, Design Hotels, W, The Luxury Collection, Le Meridien, St Regis etc

The full list of participating hotels is here.  It looks fairly comprehensive but do check before booking.

I tend to value Starwood Preferred Guest points at 1.5p.  This means that the weekend bonus is worth an extra £7.50 of free stays on top of the double points you will already be receiving.

Whilst the Marriott Rewards promotion is attractive if you are doing one-night stays, this promotion may be better for you if you do longer or more expensive stays. You should also check your targets for the Spring round of IHG’s Accelerate promotion (described here).  Hilton Honors is offering 2,000 bonus points per stay as I wrote yesterday.

Register now via this page of spg.com, just in case you forget later when you come to book.  Registration closes two weeks before the final stay date and last minute sign-ups will not be possible after 31st March.

  • New Card says:

Sadly these only work with hotels in Categories 3 and 4 (which seems needlessly specific to me).

    • Cate says:

Ok for us as we can put people up at Heathrow (Cat 3) but agree SPG presence in UK is slim.
