BOOK NOW: 135 new IHG PointBreaks hotels redemptions for just 5,000 to 15,000 points

IHG Rewards Club (the Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc group) has published the new list of PointBreaks redemptions.

These hotels can be booked for stays until 30th September.

These hotels are now bookable via ihg.com.  Popular hotels will use up their allocation of reduced price rooms quickly, so book now if you are interested.  As with all IHG Rewards Club reward nights, you can cancel without penalty at any time and get your points back.

PointBreaks has changed …..

Historically all PointBreaks rooms cost a flat 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night.

This was a great deal, except for the teeny tiny fact that the selection of hotels had been getting progressively worse for the last couple of years.  If you were looking for a good deal in a major tourist centre then you were going to be disappointed – although it was handy if you wanted a weekend break in Doncaster.  This has now changed.

The 135 hotels on the list below are priced at between 5,000 and 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night.  In general the quality of hotels included has gone up since the 5,000 point cap was removed, although at the end of the day it always depends on how the list fits around your travel plans.

PointBreaks availability is very limited so book ASAP if you are interested.

Two of the more interesting properties from a UK perspective were on the preview list we covered on Saturday.  Holiday Inn Brighton Seafront does not have the greatest reputation but, compared to the cash cost of Brighton hotels in August, you will be getting a deal.

The InterContinental Doha (pictured below) is worth a look if you are interested in a Middle East break or are planning a stopover on a Qatar Airways flight booking elsewhere.  If you book for late September the heat should be manageable.

Two in the London area which may well work for you are Crowne Plaza Heathrow and Holiday Inn Express Croydon (a short walk to the railway station for a quick train into Central London).

You can book via the IHG PointBreaks page here or via the standard booking page here.

You will be able to book these hotels for dates up to 30th September.

If you are short of points, you can currently buy IHG points with a targeted bonus of up to 100% via this link.

You allowed a maximum of two bookings per individual hotel. Each booking can be for as many nights as you want.  Remember that if you attempt to amend your booking later by dropping a night or two the whole booking may reprice at the full rate.

Rob, can you advise if points breaks happen at the same / similar times each year. If so when do they typically happen? Also are the points break hotels usually the same or similar locations? The Qatar IC looks like a really good deal.

    • Mike says:

They happen constantly. The next one will be out in 3 months time. The hotels change each time.

    • Rob says:

Every 3 months, launched on the last or 2nd last Monday of the preceding month.

      • DaveL says:

Rob, any thoughts on why this promo only runs for two months, until the end of September? Is that not unusual, and shouldn’t it run until end Oct?

  • John G says:

Booked a Friday night in Brighton at the end of August. Was hoping for a Saturday but availability was non-existent. Good thing is that they were offering Executive Sea View rooms for the same 15000 points so feel like I got decent value.

  • Kai says:

Managed to grab a Friday night at Brighton in an Executive Sea View room. Was at CP Birmingham last weekend – pretty decent and Spire Elite members are guaranteed club lounge access.

  • Binks says:

Thanks Rob and Mike. I’ll keep my eyes open for the next wave of points break hotels.

  • Liz says:

Typical – the last PB had the HI Helsinki City Centre where we are staying in Sept so just missed out on that. This time it has the Alice Springs Crowne Plaza which we stayed in in May. Seems I had my holidays the wrong way round.

  • Tony says:

HI Paris Montmartre – literally nil reward night availability as I searched 5 mins ago

    • James says:

Reports indicate it was gone 25 minutes after launch yesterday at 5pm.

  • Michael Jennings says:

I am not going to be leaving Europe in the next three months, so not much of use to me here. I booked a night at the LHR Crowne Plaza for 15,000 on a day I have an early departure, but I can get the Heathrow Mercure for £43 on the same night, so probably not great value. Plus I booked a couple of nights for a weekend in Warsaw for 10,000 a night. I like Warsaw, but there are plenty of other decent hotels around the £40 a night level, so it’s a decent value use of points but nothing terribly special compared to what I could get for cash. So it’s a bit blah. I might cancel one or both of these. Or maybe not.

Thanks Rob, grabbed a night at CP Heathrow in August.
