BOOK NOW: 135 new IHG PointBreaks hotels redemptions for just 5,000 to 15,000 points

IHG Rewards Club (the Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc group) has published the new list of PointBreaks redemptions.

These hotels can be booked for stays until 30th September.

These hotels are now bookable via ihg.com.  Popular hotels will use up their allocation of reduced price rooms quickly, so book now if you are interested.  As with all IHG Rewards Club reward nights, you can cancel without penalty at any time and get your points back.

PointBreaks has changed …..

Historically all PointBreaks rooms cost a flat 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night.

This was a great deal, except for the teeny tiny fact that the selection of hotels had been getting progressively worse for the last couple of years.  If you were looking for a good deal in a major tourist centre then you were going to be disappointed – although it was handy if you wanted a weekend break in Doncaster.  This has now changed.

The 135 hotels on the list below are priced at between 5,000 and 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night.  In general the quality of hotels included has gone up since the 5,000 point cap was removed, although at the end of the day it always depends on how the list fits around your travel plans.

PointBreaks availability is very limited so book ASAP if you are interested.

Two of the more interesting properties from a UK perspective were on the preview list we covered on Saturday.  Holiday Inn Brighton Seafront does not have the greatest reputation but, compared to the cash cost of Brighton hotels in August, you will be getting a deal.

The InterContinental Doha (pictured below) is worth a look if you are interested in a Middle East break or are planning a stopover on a Qatar Airways flight booking elsewhere.  If you book for late September the heat should be manageable.

Two in the London area which may well work for you are Crowne Plaza Heathrow and Holiday Inn Express Croydon (a short walk to the railway station for a quick train into Central London).

You can book via the IHG PointBreaks page here or via the standard booking page here.

You will be able to book these hotels for dates up to 30th September.

If you are short of points, you can currently buy IHG points with a targeted bonus of up to 100% via this link.

You allowed a maximum of two bookings per individual hotel. Each booking can be for as many nights as you want.  Remember that if you attempt to amend your booking later by dropping a night or two the whole booking may reprice at the full rate.

    OT: Hilton help please!

I haven’t got much experience with booking multiple rooms, but will need to do this soon. If i book a paid night and a reward night for the same hotel for the same night, will I still receive points for the paid room?

Also, anyone know exactly how long it takes for them to send you the Be Our Guest certificate (service recovery gesture)? I was promised mine nearly 3 weeks ago now and still haven’t received anything.

    • Kai says:

Per the t&c no, so I wouldn’t risk it.

      • Jenni says:

Thanks Kai, I suspected as much. I will need to make decisions then and book either all cash or all points.

        • Bagoly says:

Or you could book the paid room (which is presumably the one not in your name) through booking.com / rocketmiles / hotels.com etc all of which give credit to the booker not the stayer to get avios / M&Ms LHR points / hc.com credit etc

  • Ian Gleave says:

I can get a points and cash offer for 5,000 points plus £24 which is fine with me. However, the terms say that the cash element is charged in USD, so effectively I then have to pay foreign exchange fees on top. Have I read this correctly?
