You will receive a 100% bonus when you buy 15,000+ Hilton Honors points by 8th July. Click here for more details.

Hilton Honors has just launched its new Autumn promotion which is now open for registration.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn DOUBLE Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 10th September and 3rd January.

Even better, at luxury and resort hotels you will earn TRIPLE base points.

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  It really couldn’t be simpler.  For most brands, you will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points (20 at luxury and resort hotels), plus any status bonus.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here – especially if you are also earning a status bonus and/or are at a ‘luxury or resort hotel’.

You can register for the offer here.

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels – except for Hampton properties in China

Remember that the Home2 Suites and Tru brands earn a lower 5 base points per $1.

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

What is a ‘luxury or resort hotel’ offering triple points?

Basically, it seems to be:

  • Any Conrad hotel
  • Any Waldorf Astoria hotel
  • Any other hotel with ‘resort’ in its name!

Hilton has put together a special website featuring the qualifying hotels which you can find here.

There are 243 hotels earning triple points out of over 5,000 Hilton Honors properties.

This offer will work alongside the excellent Lufthansa offer

Don’t forget the exceptionally generous Hilton / Lufthansa promotion too.  This offers 2,500 Miles & More miles – worth £25 in my book if used for long-haul redemptions – on EVERY Hilton cash booking, however cheap, until 31st October.

This offer works on top of your double points – you don’t need to choose.

You can find out more on the Hilton / Lufthansa offer here and register here.

And remember that Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Diamond or Gold status.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete eight stays (note it is stays, not nights) during the 90 days you will keep your Diamond status until 31st March 2020.  If you only manage four stays you will receive Gold status until 31st March 2020.

Conclusion

‘Double or triple base points’ is a decent offer and you should make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next three months.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 3rd January.

Let’s see what IHG and Marriott / Starwood launch to compete with this ….

Has anyone else been having issues with the Hilton Miles & More promotion?

I registered for it, and set my preferred travel partner to M&M during a stay; on checkout, BA still appeared as my travel partner and the hotel said they didn’t have access to the relevant part of the system to change it, so no miles were credited. Same thing happened on another stay a couple of weeks later. I emailed Hilton and after a few rounds of correspondence they acknowledged that I should have received the M&M miles. They manually added them, but in so doing somehow reduced the number of Hilton points I earned for those stays by about 20% (no reason that I can see – I’m not aware of anything in the promotion T&Cs that indicates you sacrifice points in exchange for the miles). I’m now into my 6 or 7th round of correspondence with them to try and get that resolved and making no progress. It seems that, while on the one hand they’ve introduced a 1-hour target response time for Diamond members, the result is that no-one appears to actually read the email before firing off a stock response (actually I’m not even sure there are any humans in the loop – could well all be automated; in which case – anyone know the magic keywords to get the system to pass it on to an actual person? 😉

I’ve had this exact same issue, although the reduction in Hilton Points seems to be between about 1%-20% when asking the agent to manually add the Lufthansa miles. Very odd indeed

      • Jon says:

Ah thanks – not just me then! 😉 I’m waiting for them to reply to my latest email, so will see what happens…

    Re: Hilton Status Match challege

Does anyone know who often you can take these challenges on? I.e. If I take this challenge on and fail, will I still be able to try again in the new year (assuming it’s a fresh promotion), or are barred for a certain period?
