Hilton Honors has just launched its new Autumn promotion which is now open for registration.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn DOUBLE Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 10th September and 3rd January.

Even better, at luxury and resort hotels you will earn TRIPLE base points.

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  It really couldn’t be simpler.  For most brands, you will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points (20 at luxury and resort hotels), plus any status bonus.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here – especially if you are also earning a status bonus and/or are at a ‘luxury or resort hotel’.

You can register for the offer here.

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels – except for Hampton properties in China

Remember that the Home2 Suites and Tru brands earn a lower 5 base points per $1.

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

What is a ‘luxury or resort hotel’ offering triple points?

Basically, it seems to be:

  • Any Conrad hotel
  • Any Waldorf Astoria hotel
  • Any other hotel with ‘resort’ in its name!

Hilton has put together a special website featuring the qualifying hotels which you can find here.

There are 243 hotels earning triple points out of over 5,000 Hilton Honors properties.

This offer will work alongside the excellent Lufthansa offer

Don’t forget the exceptionally generous Hilton / Lufthansa promotion too.  This offers 2,500 Miles & More miles – worth £25 in my book if used for long-haul redemptions – on EVERY Hilton cash booking, however cheap, until 31st October.

This offer works on top of your double points – you don’t need to choose.

You can find out more on the Hilton / Lufthansa offer here and register here.

And remember that Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Diamond or Gold status.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete eight stays (note it is stays, not nights) during the 90 days you will keep your Diamond status until 31st March 2020.  If you only manage four stays you will receive Gold status until 31st March 2020.

Conclusion

‘Double or triple base points’ is a decent offer and you should make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next three months.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 3rd January.

Let’s see what IHG and Marriott / Starwood launch to compete with this ….

I have 12% Halifax CBack Extra at the moment on Conrad and WA so works nicely with this. Worth checking across similar schemes on all banking products. Avios store is currently 8 avios per £ (on cash only?) bookings so useful with this triple points, Halifax and Lufthansa offering.

    • Jon says:

Good luck getting the Avios though… Still waiting for about 10 stays to track, let alone credit, and past experience suggests I will have to fight tooth and nail to get anything at all. They will use any excuse to claim the stay was non-qualifying (basically anything other than Best Available Rate can on a whim fall into their ‘specialty’ (sic) rate category and be denied). Promo rates are hit and miss in my experience, and if you’re on a Points & Cash or Government rate, don’t even bother asking. 🙁

      • BJ says:

I was aware of all the horror stories Jon, but given options elsewhwhere were poor I felt I had nothing to lose by trying.

      • Genghis says:

@Rob what are your rules surrounding comments on the cash / points back portals? Anything that detracts from HfP revenue is banned?

        • Rob says:

          Basically ????

As I have £70k of staff and office to cover before I make a penny ….

      • Genghis says:

        Your site, your rules 🙂

When is it Anika is leaving? Replacement lined up?

        • Rob says:

Not leaving ???? She is moving to remote working for a while and I may hire someone purely for editorial in London, as the strain during holidays is getting trickier as my kids get older.

She retains commercial control of the site.

      • BJ says:

@Rob, why not line up some guest articles through the year, run them all at vacation time and leave the comments of guest articles to the author and community so you can enjoy a proper vacation? Another August has passed and despite your intentions there is still mostly three new articles most days with a lot of the inputs to the comments from you. I don’t think anybody grudges you a proper break 🙂

    • TripRep says:

That is decent discount, especially as they now include breakfast. In case your interested the WA Edinburgh can be had for as little as £159, Sunday eves seem to be good for this..

      • BJ says:

WA Edinburgh is less than 5 minutes away from me, great mattress run 🙂

        • Alan says:

Have a look at Hampton next to Fountainpark – you can get certain dates for £60 in October.

    • John says:

Success rate with avios.com is about 80% for me. Any idea what will happen when avios.com closes, who do we chase for the points afterwards?

I haven’t been able to make any Hilton reservations on the website or app since 11pm last night (need one for tonight!) – is anyone else having this problem?

      • BJ says:

The web site is not closing so my guess was the store stayed open for Are Club so I still expected to get my avios, and plan to complain to BA if I don’t since my avios account will transfer to them.

  • BJ says:

I did 6 reservations via avios yesterday and they all tracked ok, remains to be seen if they pay. Argree repeating same promotion time after time is dull. Would have prefered triple points on midweek stays to resorts and high end.

  • TripRep says:

    Rob et al,

Any feedback on if continuing to hold the old Hilton Barclaycard continues to get Gold status, do you now even need to hit the annual spend target?

    • Lee says:

Don’t see why anything has changed as it is in the terms

      £10,000 for Gold.

Although I have been diamond for 3 or 4 years, so really not sure as it doesn’t affect me.

    • Rob says:

I would imagine you do, don’t see why anything should have changed.

      • Michael Jennings says:

When I got Gold last year, I received an e-mail telling me I had attained Gold and saying that I would retain it “as long as I continue to hold the card”, which would seem to imply I don’t need to hit the target again this year to keep it. I am not sure if I believe this, though. (I have about £8500 spend on it for this year so far, so I will put another £1500 on it just in case, I think).

  • Nick says:

OT For any of the petrolheads like me out there, HH Access is offereing a McLaren Track Day Experience at Dunsfold Circuit on 25th October, driving the 570S and 720S. Redeem for 275K points. VIP hospitality with lunch and refreshments. 🙂

    • Mr(s) Entitled says:

Must be one of the best redemption deals out there. What would be the value per point if you were to write off just one of the cars?

    • Tilly says:

???? shame I do not have enough points but what a fab offer.

    • Rob says:

Cheers Nick, will drop this in.

    • Graham Walsh says:

      Only 200k points short 🙁

    • mikee says:

Anyone know if this has been offered by Hilton before and whether it is a proper McLaren day rather than the experience days provided by independent companies?
Would be good to know how much time you get actually on the track as many of the independent experience days just give you a few miles around a track.

      • Rob says:

Not seen one before to be honest.

      • Graham Walsh says:

I would say it is a proper McLaren day, especially as they are a sponsor. I also know they use Dunsfold as a test track as they have a garage there too.

      • Mikee says:

Ok thanks, will drop them an email.

        Mikee

  • Michael says:

Seems Hilton is trying to attact some business with a pretty good promo. Certainly at the moment will help bring my stays over to it from Marriott!

  • G00NFACE says:

Probably a silly question, do you earn Honors Points from Reward Nights? I’ve got a 5 night reward stay coming up at a Hilton.

    • TripRep says:

Normally no. Unless there’s a special promo on like there was at the start of the year.

Restuarant cash spend should earn I believe?

    • Lee says:

If you use cash / reward and put the minimum amount on money you should get points then as well.

Also if you charge to the room – but one of the budget hotels doesn’t I believe. Can’t recall which though.

  • Relaxo says:

Theres also the Amex platinum offer – I got 5K MR points for £150 spend. Terms say only valid if paid at checkout . Anyone have any luck getting the points on cumulative spent? I’ve got £150 worth of advance bookings split over 2 hotels…..

    • Ikaz says:

I got the points on cumulative spend a couple of weeks ago. 3 different stays and I went over the target with spending on extras (my target was £250)

      • Relaxo says:

Thx Ikaz. Was a bit concerned because T&C’s also excluded payments made online, but not sure how they would police that. If i can get the 2500 LH miles on my points & cash redemption then this would be a good return for my 3 night hotel hopping trip in Yorkshire!

        • Ryan says:

Anyone got the URL for the Hilton Offer?

        • BJ says:

Relaxo, unfortunately points & money reservations are nonqualifying for LH offer. Commented on on this recently after reading FT comment about Hilton CS feedback. Russell confirmed this was their experience too. If it works for you then you might want to consider changing those bookings to full cash stays. If you do remember to make sure LH is your preferred partner first.

        • BJ says:

@Ryan, just search Hilton Lufthansa 2500 here on HFP for article and links.

  • Tilly says:

Shame our stay in November in the Seychelles Hilton was booked via Trailfinders as a holiday package. Would have been a nice haul of points.

    • John says:

But it would have been a lot more costly if booked separately right?

      • Tilly says:

        It would ……….I think.

      • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

I’ve had some successes in the past getting hotels to match travel agent rates, but I’ve never tried when it’s bundled with a flight. There isn’t much to lose by emailing their reservations team and asking (in future).

        • Tilly says:

Thanks for the tip. We weren’t initially going to Seychelles and staying in that resort , had to change trip airway booked from a tour round Costa Rica because of Zika. Never mind ……….
