Hilton Honors has just launched its new Autumn promotion which is now open for registration.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn DOUBLE Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 10th September and 3rd January.

Even better, at luxury and resort hotels you will earn TRIPLE base points.

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  It really couldn’t be simpler.  For most brands, you will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points (20 at luxury and resort hotels), plus any status bonus.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here – especially if you are also earning a status bonus and/or are at a ‘luxury or resort hotel’.

You can register for the offer here.

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels – except for Hampton properties in China

Remember that the Home2 Suites and Tru brands earn a lower 5 base points per $1.

Hilton Honors double points Autumn 2018

What is a ‘luxury or resort hotel’ offering triple points?

Basically, it seems to be:

  • Any Conrad hotel
  • Any Waldorf Astoria hotel
  • Any other hotel with ‘resort’ in its name!

Hilton has put together a special website featuring the qualifying hotels which you can find here.

There are 243 hotels earning triple points out of over 5,000 Hilton Honors properties.

This offer will work alongside the excellent Lufthansa offer

Don’t forget the exceptionally generous Hilton / Lufthansa promotion too.  This offers 2,500 Miles & More miles – worth £25 in my book if used for long-haul redemptions – on EVERY Hilton cash booking, however cheap, until 31st October.

This offer works on top of your double points – you don’t need to choose.

You can find out more on the Hilton / Lufthansa offer here and register here.

And remember that Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Diamond or Gold status.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete eight stays (note it is stays, not nights) during the 90 days you will keep your Diamond status until 31st March 2020.  If you only manage four stays you will receive Gold status until 31st March 2020.

Conclusion

‘Double or triple base points’ is a decent offer and you should make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next three months.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 3rd January.

Let’s see what IHG and Marriott / Starwood launch to compete with this ….

  • Paul says:

Re the miles and more promotion. I signed up for the offer, and set my M&M number as my preferred travel partner. Both after booking, but before checking in for two separate stays with Hilton. No miles have arrived. Customer support response changes each time I make contact, so far I’ve had: not eligible because signed up after booking, just need to wait six weeks and they’ll credit, not eligible because I got BA miles instead, phone Lufthansa for assistance.

Seems to me that the booking did still have BA as my preferred travel partner in it, despite subsequent change of preference which I guess is the problem. But obviously didn’t actually earn any avios since they no longer offer that. Promotion terms only state must sign up prior to stay not booking.

Anyone with any advice, or having more success than me at chasing payout of this promotion?

    • Alex W says:

In my experience you have to get the hotel to change the FF number when you check in. You could try emailing Honors.

    • Lee says:

You need to change the frequent flyer choice in the booking.

Otherwise it will be on BA and you will not get the points.

    • Rob says:

The registration site has now been changed and says that you must set LH as your preferred partner.

    • Adam says:

Look at the folio from hotel. Does it include your MM number? If not, the change did not come through.

  • Brighton Belle says:

My status match to Hilton is suspended until my Creation IHG credit card sends last months points to IHG to hit Spire. Is there a worse credit card company than Creation? Their software and systems seems to borrowed from Bletchley Park. Every month is a tale of woe and failure.

    • Phil says:

Creation are not the best. I actually miss barclaycard!

However re: Hilton match I got the diamonds match offer as IHG platinum so not sure it’s worth waiting for spire personally…

Looking forward to a new Hilton card but not expected till next year and praying not creation but who else would run it ????

    • David says:

If you are Platinum then do a status match on that as you will get diamond as I have just done it or are you trying to gift platinum via spire for another IHG account to then do a match on that?

What is happening every month as I have had no problems and think it’s the best card out there when used to the full?

      • Mark2 says:

        +1 on last comment

      • Russ says:

Is it worth doing a Diamond status match this far into the year though if it ends 30th March 2020 or should we wait till next year? My gold status runs out in January.

        • David says:

Only you know the answer to that! I think it changes in ~June time so in January it will still last until March 2020.

If you have some stays that have a lounge coming up then yes if not I wouldn’t bother as gold gets breakfast. How you got gold is relevant and will you requalify for gold in 2019.

        • Pangolin says:

If they had decided to offer the 3x points promo for Diamond that they ran last year then it would definitely be worth going for now. As it stands, it might be better to wait a while and see what they offer for Q1 2019. The main thing is to avoid finishing the challenge in January – that’s a big no-no as you lose a year.

        • Russ says:

Thanks David and Pangolin, I’m going to wait till next year as not keen to book more stays this year and free breakfast is satisfactory

    • Alan says:

Points should be across now – they are for me anyway.

    • Jonty says:

First time I’ve heard Bletchley Park technology dissed. It did a fine job and was cutting edge. From what I’ve read on hfp comments neither of these are Creation traits

  • Dan says:

Will this count for F&B spend on a reward stay? We’ve a week coming up in the Doubletree Resort in Zanzibar. I reckon we’ll spend at least $500 whilst there….so we’re talking around 15,000 points (as a Gold) ?

  • pommy ray says:

quite good, weirdly just got a one off triple points offer on the next stay as well!, will be interesting to see if they combine the deals.

  • Doug M says:

This is the worst aspect of these schemes. The non trackers you rather accept as you know it’s not worked, but the reversals months later are a bitch. Had one a couple of months back with Dell for nearly 7000 Avios. Still failing to explain what didn’t qualify. Can’t believe these schemes have any real rules, they just random cancel when they’ve spent too much.

    • Doug M says:

I generally prefer hotels com for hotels. Not much business travel for me so the clarity and simplicity of the reward night scheme works best. Had decent CS from them too. I have points in several hotel schemes but struggle to find value with them, or my perception of value, and lack the will to put lots of effort into working out what might be best. The reward night scheme is just straight forward. If you use Avios portal with hotels com in my experience you get something, but reduced from offer in an unclear way, but so far no reversals from them.

    • Genghis says:

I’m a big fan of the hotels.com scheme too. It allows me to book whichever hotel I want on work travel. However, don’t ignore the points schemes. Hotels.com nights are fixed monetary amounts so no arbitrage. That’s where points come in.

    • BJ says:

The problem is that site is only 1% for all except blue members so I took a chance on avios.

  • BillyK says:

I contacted HH about a status match IHG platinum over 2 weeks ago And so far they have not bothered to get back to me

So looks like I’m going to keep my bookings with IHG..

    • BJ says:

Suggest you submit it again as they don’t usually take more than a few days.

    • Volker says:

Same here, haven’t heard from them after submitting my request more than 2 weeks ago 🙁 Rather than doing the same thing again, is there a way of chasing up the case? A contact email address/phone number?

    • Rum says:

I have just submitted a request for a status match as well. HH Gold via Amex Plat and IHG Plat via their £99-fee card.
I sent a screen shot of the app showing I am a Platinum member, so hope that works. Haven’t stayed with IHG yet though so it shows 0 nights. Will this be enough for them to status match me or are they going to ignore my request as well?

      • Pangolin says:

I think you ought to have some activity to show. Even one night should be enough, otherwise you risk being turned down.

        • Leo says:

When I did it before they were very clear they wanted to see evidence of stays (which I had). I’d say to do it with no stays is jumping the gun.

  • Wivus says:

Not letting me register. ”Unknown error” Anyone else?

  • James says:

I can’t login to it…”your request has timed out”. I’m hoping it works later, as I have eligible nights at a resort in mid-September, with a dollar spend on the room alone of about $3.5k.
    As a gold member, does it mean I’d get (3 x 10) + 8 = 38 points per dollar, or – too good to hope for – 3 x 18 = 54 points per dollar?

Can’t see anything in these terms and conditions to suggest it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they give me no points at all in the end, due to my room having been purchased using the Hilton Honors Sale. I’ll look later, but they may well have something in the sale’s terms & conditions about future promotions/offers.
