My Lounge now open in Gatwick’s South Terminal as an alternative to the No1 Lounge

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The brand new ‘My Lounge’ is now open in London Gatwick’s South Terminal, which is the one used by British Airways.

Based on the one in Gatwick North, you should expect ‘urban chic’ bordering on ‘hipster’, if ‘hipster’ is still a ‘thing’.

Annoyingly, I have no idea where ‘My Lounge’ is, except that it is located on the upper level along with all of the other lounges.  Apparently it has the only outside terrace at the airport:

Given that the ‘My Lounge’ in Gatwick North is cheap – I have seen it offered for as little as £12 via promos – I was surprised to see that Gatwick South will cost £30 on the door or £24 booked in advance.  Children are allowed at half price.

This is our review of My Lounge in Gatwick North to get you in the mood.  It is available via Priority Pass (free with Amex Platinum or buy one here) and Lounge Club (two free visits with the free Amex Gold) which should reduce the pressure on the main No1 Lounge.

You can find out more about My Lounge Gatwick South on their website here.  I will be Gatwick South in January and hope to take a look then, assuming there is no official media event.

OT LNER are offering a 50% rebate on Nectar point redemptions for vouchers for their advanced purchase tickets – https://www.nectar.com/offers/66B0F01247

    • Rob says:

Covering this tomorrow. Seems targeted (I have it) but a good deal if you do.

      • Nick Burch says:

As long as it works better than the Caffe Nero deal Nectar!

(In the end, they refunded me the points for that, as only about 10% of the codes worked…)

        • TGLoyalty says:

Strange never had one that didn’t work. They are restricted in what drinks you can purchase. Sometimes I’ve had it manually given free and used the nectar voucher next time 🙂

  • Garyo76 says:

Just tried to get into mylounge at Gatwick South terminal but they do not accept Priority Pass.

    • Lady London says:

North one definitely was a Priority Pass lounge.
Even so, whenever I walked past it on my way to the crowded No. 1 Lounge it was empty.

    • xcalx says:

No1 South is listed in the PP booklet. Don’t forget to visit the grain store.

      • xcalx says:

        MYlounge south not listed.

        • Rob says:

But if you visit the My Lounge South website:

          “Who can use the lounge?
Any checked-in passengers from any airline, across any ticket class. We accept cardholders from Dragonpass, IOD, Lounge Club, Lounge Key and Priority Pass.”

  • AlexT says:

Thanks! Added to card. 60k adds possible for the promotion so plenty to go around.

  • Crafty says:

    OT – Marriott Platinum challenge.

I am seeing conflicting reports on other blogs (probably driven by apparently inconsistent T&Cs) as to whether reward nights count towards the 16 nights required. Irrespective of whether they are intended to count, does anyone have empirical evidence of whether theirs did?

    • Rob says:

Irrespective of whether they did or not (and I never thought they did), they do not for sign-ups from mid October.

  • nick says:

any idea what 20,000 Nectar bonus point are worth ? Can I convert to avios?

    • Rob says:

£100 in 99% of cases, and no conversion.

      • Alex W says:

I think that’s unfair to Nectar. If you wait for the offers to come along then it’s £200. We did very well, got £200 of wine in the recent offer. Not 100% guaranteed to happen again but based on past experience 99% chance of failure is highly pessimistic!

    • Lady London says:

Hasn’t Sainsbury’s done the odd double value offer on Nectar?

      • Rob says:

Yes they do but it is quite restricted on categories.

      • Peter K says:

Usually rubbish though with a max £20 doubled for each “category” they allow in their store.

      • BJ says:

Yep, actually £200+ this year as their systems did not recognise the limit. I got a gtech vacuum cleaner for £100, cheapest alternative way I could find was £180. Just did a £175 transfer to LNER and awaiting a 50% rebate. Last year £50 worth of ebay for £25 of points. So, no complaints about nectar from me, and they are much easier to collect than clubcard points. Just need to be patient to get decent redemptions.

  • BJ says:

Yes, there seems to be no official limit. However, I believe they may now be refusing anybody who applies fof a third cobranded card.

  • Kurt says:

O/T: When trying to book flights on Iberia with my Avios on my IB Plus account, I am quoted far higher taxes from LHR to Germany than when I check the same flight on BA with Avios – anyone know why? Return leg Germany – LHR is fine….. Thanks.

    • Stu N says:

BA cap the taxes and charges on short haul redemptions. Search for “Reward Flight Saver”, I think it’s max £35 return for economy and £50 for business. The actual charges on the return flight must be less than the £17.50 RFS fee. You can get same result by booking two singles on BA.

Iberia don’t do RFS so usually end up more expensive, especially exUK.

      • Kurt says:

Thanks I guess that explains it! Ended up booking one leg on Iberia and one on BA…. Iberia did have a good “part pay by points” option though.

  • rams1981 says:

OT Shopsmall – did anyone get a credit from Nespresso cheapside?

    • antoinette calleja says:

I am missing that one – no email or credit
Also Rococo chocs – they use a different machine for payment that does not trigger the shop small credit

      • Oli says:

I never had the Rococco Chocolates credit in prior years because of their machines and always had to claim the credit. Painful. I’m not doing it this year
