IHG’s 5-Day Flash Sale – save 30% this week on hotel bookings for stays in UK and Europe

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

IHG Rewards Club is running a short flash sale for the UK and Europe this week.  This covers InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites etc.

You can get up to 30% off at more than 600 hotels in over 100 cities throughout Europe.  We’ve included a few examples that we’ve reviewed recently below.

The rules are simple:

Book by Friday 22nd March

Stay between 5th April 2019 and 31st January 2020

You can only book via this link

Booking must be made at least 3 days in advance

Only UK and European hotels are participating

The discount is usually 30% off Best Available Rate.  IHG Rewards Club members receive an additional 3%-7% off.

However, as these sale rates are non-cancellable and non-refundable, you should really be comparing them to the existing Advanced Purchase rates.

Your saving might not be as high as 30% but prices are definitely lower than the usual Advanced Purchase ratesThere are genuine discounts on offer until Friday.

Remember that, until 30th April, your stays will also count towards IHG’s ‘Rewards Nights. Faster.’ promotion.

Everyone has personalised targets which, in general, are easier or more generous than we have seen for a while.  This is our article on the offerRegistration is now closed, however.

Rob got the following targets:

  • 10,000 bonus points for staying five nights
  • 19,200 bonus points for staying at three different IHG brands
  • 5,600 bonus points for 2 x 2-night weekend stays (Saturday plus another night)
  • 8,000 bonus points for four stays booked on a corporate rate
  • 3,000 bonus points for one stay in February
  • 42,800 bonus points for completing four of the five targets above

Take a look at what you’ve been offered.  Assuming you registered before the deadline last week, you can check your targets here.

IHG Flash Sale

A few Flash Sale pricing examples:

A Classic Room at the InterContinental Paris – Le Grand (which Rob reviewed here) costs £231 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £349 per night)

A Superior Room at the fairly new InterContinental Ljubljana (which I reviewed here) costs £115 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £139 per night)

A One Bed, Two Bed or Standard Room at the BRAND NEW Holiday Inn London Heathrow Bath Road (review is here) costs £68 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £87 per night)

An Ocean View Deluxe King Room at the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril (review is here) costs £155 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £199 per night)

A Standard Room or a Studio Suite at the brand new Staybridge Suites in Manchester (which Rhys reviewed here) costs £97 per night (the Advanced Saver Rate is £122 per night)

Prices quoted above are IHG Rewards Club member prices per night for a random day in mid April 2019.  As a non member you will pay more, but it is free to sign up.

If you have existing flexible IHG bookings for the Summer which can be changed, you may want to check the pricing.  You may feel happier turning an existing refundable rate into a non-refundable booking as the date gets nearer.

The IHG flash sale booking site is here. You have until Friday to book these sale rates.

Your April examples sound good but got “Rate not available” for June, every hotel I looked at, are you sure about those available dates?

    • Alan says:

I have checked a hotel I have booked in July and the saving rate is a decent saving.

  • Andrew says:

“Remember that, until 30th April, your stays will also count towards IHG’s ‘Rewards Nights. Faster.’ promotion.”

As a newbie, can someone confirm to me whether stays on 30th April/1st May count?

  • Alex Sm says:

    I got the following

    Earn 70,000 total bonus points.

    14,400 Discover Our Brands
Stay at 3 brands and get 14,400 bonus points.

    5,600 Saturday Stays Bonus
Stay 2 weekend(s), including a Saturday night and another night, and earn 5,600 bonus points.

    8,400 Stay at 3 IHG® Hotels
Stay at 3 IHG® hotel(s) and earn 8,400 bonus points.

    6,600 Earn More, Faster
Earn 6,600 bonus points when you book 2 Bonus Points Package stay(s) and get to your next reward faster.

    35,000 Your Achievement Bonus
Complete 4 of the 4 offers and earn (an additional) 35,000 bonus points.

So, my partner and I booked three stays in total

    – 1 night with bonus points package at the brand new Staybridge Suites Bath Rd – stayed last weekend, amazing hotel
    – 2 nights next weekend at HIX Dartford with bonus points package
    – 2 nights on Easter weekend at HI Elstree (a mini Easter break to have a nice swim/sauna, walk in the Herts countryside, go to RAF museum etc), non-refundable

Therefore we will hit all four targets + bonus + actual points for stay + welcome amenity + card spend points. With the total cost of bookings at ca 350 pounds, we should have around 0.4p per point which is in line with Rob’s valuation. Happy? We are!
