Hilton Honors has just launched its new Summer promotion which is now open for registration.

The promotion is called ‘Go More, Get More‘.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn DOUBLE Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 6th May and 8th September, starting with your second stay.

For most brands, you will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points plus any status bonus.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.  20 points per $1 is an 8.5% rebate and that is before you add in any status bonus.

There are also additional targets for heavy stayers:

10,000 bonus points after 10 stays

+ a further 15,000 bonus points after 15 stays (total of 25,000)

+ a further 20,000 bonus points after 20 stays (total of 45,000)

There is no cap to what you can earn. The only snag is that – and I am not very happy with Hilton for doing this – you only earn double points from your SECOND stay after 6th May

This is a mean clause, much loved by Marriott, and means you may need to waste time and money doing a mattress run if you have a particularly expensive Hilton stay coming up over the Summer.

You can register for the offer here.

Hilton Honors Go More Get More Summer 2019 promotion

There is not much small print except that:

you need to register in advance via the Hilton website

the bonus only starts from your SECOND stay after 6th May

Apart from that, all is good:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels

Remember that the Home2 Suites and Tru brands earn a lower 5 base points per $1.

The small print confirms that reward stays do count towards the 10 / 15 / 20 stays additional bonuses.  You will also receive double base points on your food and drink spend on reward stays (note that Hampton and a few smaller brands do not give points for incidental spend).

The only point which is not clear is whether a reward stay counts for the ‘first stay which doesn’t earn double points’ qualifier.  I would guess that it does count, because the stay triggers an elite credit for status purposes.

Hilton Go More Get More promo 2019

Remember that Hilton is still offering a status match

If you have top tier status with another hotel programme, Hilton Honors will give you a 90 day free trial of Hilton Diamond or Gold status.

You need to supply a screenshot showing your top tier status in another programme plus a screenshot showing a paid stay in the previous 12 months.

If you complete eight stays (note it is stays, not nights) during the 90 days you will keep your Diamond status until 31st March 2020.  If you only manage four stays you will receive Gold status until 31st March 2020.

Register for ‘Go More, Get More’ now

Hilton’s new ‘double base points’ is a decent offer, especially for people doing longer, more expensive stays.  You should make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next four months.

Even without Hilton Honors status, you will be earning 20 points (which I value at 6.6p) per $1.  This is an 8.5% rebate on your spending.  Anyone with Hilton status will do even better.

If you trigger the additional bonuses, they are worth up to an extra £7.42 of points per stay on top.  This is based on getting 45,000 additional points for 20 stays, and valuing the points at 0.33p each.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 8th September.

Let’s see what IHG and Marriott launch to compete with this.

You can sign up here.

How typical is that…..I have a 1 night Hilton day in Miami in May…..but 7 nights in December!!!

    • John says:

There will probably be another promo for December, but maybe not around Christmas time.

  • John says:

You can’t count milestone bonus as you would get it without any promo.

    • Lady London says:

If you wanted to diversity @Pawel, with that number of stays would IHG Ambassador work out well for you?

  • TigerTim says:

Hi, any ideas how to deal with this ?
I have a twenty day stay starting on the 4th May.

What do you think I can do to try to get that stay (except the 4th & 5th would never count) to count as my second stay ?

I have this booked as 4 lots of 5 day redemptions but appreciate that it will only count as one stay. If I book into another nearby Hilton for the 6th or 7th May do you think that would help ? But they would be simultaneous stays.

I guess I could cancel the first few days of my redemption and stay in a nearby Hilton instead for 3 nights. Bloody annoying. It’s a faff just to get a few extra points but if I don’t do it then the whole stay I’ll be feeling like I’m missing out on points !!!!!

    • TigerTim says:

Sod it, I can’t be bothered with the faff just to earn double points on my food & drink spend.

    • John says:

You’ll just have to hotel hop. You can store the bulk of your bags at the main hotel, and move to the other hotel. Simultaneous stays are a problem, you usually get credited for the one that you check out first and nothing for the longer one. Hilton will fix this after a few calls, but it might not work out the way you want it to.

Potentially you could do 4/5/6 at the other hotel, then 7-11, 12th at the other hotel, 13-17, 18th at the other hotel, then 19-23. This way you get 6 stays for the promo too. I don’t know why anyone would want to stay in the same hotel for 20 days unless it is for work… but each to their own.

    • TigerTim says:

Last time I stayed here for a long time I jumped between 2 Hilton’s. Every fifth night of a redemption I had one paid night at a nearby Hilton. Racked up the stays nicely but couldn’t be bothered with that faff this time either !

  • Dale says:

Still Hilton related but Edinburgh Grosvenor is leaving Hilton Portfolio next Tuesday, just if you were thinking about staying there in future. I haven’t seen that covered.

  • Matthew says:

Slight O/T but still Hilton. Where are people staying after the Jessie J concert at Abbey Rd Studios in June? I know there’s a Marriott nearby but I’m Gold so no free brekky. Rates are also pretty high and saving my points for something else! Any suggestions/recommendations? Don’t mind getting tube back to somewhere afterwards either…

    • Nick says:

We’re staying at the Hilton London Paddington, 146 Praed Street, which is a bit further away than the Marriott, but we stayed there for the previous gig at Abbey Road and we’re doing it on a HH points redemption again.

    • Lady London says:

There are IHG hotels not too far away at all. Such as North of Abbey Road. Walk up to the main road by St Johns Wood tube and take any bus going North. It’s 2 or 3 stops max to HIX that is very near the Swiss Cottage stop. Or take buses South from the Tube towards Central London. If you have IHG points costs would be reasonable for the time of year. If you have more points Indigo Paddington is well rated and will connect easily to concert location (I used to live right behind there.)

If you are price sensitive and paying cash then St John’s Wood is on the Bakerloo Line. This line gives you access to cheaper locations including those you can connect with such as by easy switch to the Jubilee Line. Depending if Tubes are running when you exit the concert. Easy to reach places like Hendon, Brent Cross, Wembley by public transport from there.

The Hilton Doubletree at Marble Arch is also on a direct bus route up to St John’s Wood. Get off at St Johns Wood tube station and walk down (bus more practical than Tube for this route). Quite a few choices at Waterloo in most of the chains. Many quite newly built. They tend to be higher priced than going out a bit on the tube lines in either direction. As Waterloo easily walkable to lots of attractions.

Just a few thoughts – it depends what’s important to you.

      • Lady London says:

*PS recommend the Sea Shell Fish & Chips in Lisson Grove which is very near there. Not what it was, but still pretty good. Can eat in (make sure you book) or take away.

      • Matthew says:

Thanks Lady London 👍. Was concerned about tube stopping about midnight but hadn’t thought of the bus! Happy to ‘travel’ a bit for a nice but reasonably priced hotel so you have some good ideas there!

        • John says:

Jubilee line runs 24h Friday night to Sunday morning, St Johns Wood is on Jubilee not Bakerloo!

        • Lady London says:

Oops I guess you are right @John. St John’s Wood was on the Bakerloo line when I lived right behind the zebra crossing at Abbey Studios but when the Jubilee Line came in they nicked that stretch of line for it.

I forgot I think there is a newish (well, to IHG) quite well-rated IHG HI or HIX very near to Finchley Road Tube which is a short way up from Swiss Cottage on the same bus and tube lines. Finchley Road is where it’s a stroll across the platform to switch between Julbille and Metropolitan Lines. Giving access to Waterloo and amy other places cheaper or more interesting locations for hotels can be found.

  • TripRep says:

Tempted to do a cheap mattress run to get my 5th stay for current promo.

    £50 gets me 2k bonus + 10k (5 stays) + 1k yourway + base pts and 80% Gold bonus.

Probs just about worth it if I load up on brekky (like a walrus).

    • John says:

Do you have the amex 75 or 50 off 250, I did very well out of the current promo

      • TripRep says:

Actually yes, I need to check my cumulative spend, also now found a room for £42 with swimming pool too.

        • TripRep says:

ps Thanks v much, smart thinking.

        • Lady London says:

Saw a Swindon H hotel looking remarkably cheap yesterday. £40. St Anne’s Manor at Bracknell, which has a bit more character and a bit nicer than the standard-type H’s in the area provided you can avoid the quirkier rooms, was £60 on a weekend night. Might do to bump up the numbers.

    • Lyn says:

I thought My Way gives a choice of either 1,000 points or breakfast for Gold?

      • meta says:

Yes, but there are a few hotels which give both.

        • TripRep says:

DoubleTree seems to be great for this.

        • Lyn says:

Interesting, thank you both. How do you get this in practice at the Doubletrees? I normally have breakast chosen in my MyWay profile instead of points.

        • TripRep says:

Its a bit hit and miss, NCL airport was good for it and I believe Dundee too.Things may have tightened up on this. They certainly got my repeat business with it in play.

The one I’ve choosen for my 5th night to trigger the bonus doesn’t double dip, but the cheap rate (<£50) I found includes breakfast, so with the bonuses triggered, I should net approx 13k points + generous brekky to start the working week.

      • John says:

You can always get both by changing your profile to 1000 points immediately after checking out. Change it back to breakfast once the points have posted. Not sure if Hilton will crack down on this in the future.

      • meta says:

It seems automatic. No need to ask for it. If the hotel does it, then fine. If not, just go with breakfast (if more valuable).

    • Lady London says:

You might as well go for it now @Triprep.
The upcoming promo is distinctly less exciting unless you are a commited 15+ nights-heavy (in 4 summer months) Hilton stayer already.

  • Bal says:

Made some bookings a few days ago. Do i need to cancel a rebook or will they count towards the promo as long as I register for it?

    • HayMow says:

Article above says “Existing bookings still count”

    • Lady London says:

Hilton seems to be the one that honours existing bookings on promos. the others all seem to say has to be new booknigs after promo announcement date or after registerig.

      • Brian W says:

Previous bookings counted for the current IHG Promo. They haven’t counted for some Accelerate promo’s, as stated in the terms, but they did for this one.

  • Rob says:

You’re right, I’m wrong. Thanks. I will update and do a quick note tomorrow.
