American Express Platinum is dropping their Preferred Golf programme

American Express is closing the ‘Preferred Golf’ programme.

Holders of The Platinum Card from American Express are losing a benefit from 30th June.  It seems they forgot to mention this in the big glossy booklet you received in the post recently to justify the upcoming fee increase.

The ‘Preferred Golf’ programme covers 60 leading global golf resorts, including The K-Club in Ireland and Finca Cortesin Hotel, Golf & Spa in Spain (generally seen as the best resort in Spain full stop, whether you are a golfer or non golfer).

The Platinum Card holders receive:

Complimentary room upgrade upon arrival (when available)
Late check-out (when available at check in)
Complimentary round of golf with each night stay at participating properties
Stay More package offers discounted rounds of golf for two people, for every night of your stay

‘Preferred Golf’ is an opt-in Platinum benefit.  You can no longer opt-in after 30th June 2019.  As long as you are opted in, you will still be able to make bookings for stays until 30th June 2020 at which point the scheme ends entirely.

You can find out more about ‘Preferred Golf’ – and enrol – on this page of the American Express Platinum website.
