ENDING SOON: £25 off £40 Amazon purchase for Amex Gold and Platinum holders

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

Amazon is currently offering an exclusive £25 discount code for some or all Amex Gold, Green and Platinum card holders when they spend £40 or more.

This offer expires on 31st July.  If you haven’t taken advantage of it yet – possibly because you didn’t have an Amex Gold or Platinum when it launched – this is your last chance.

You will save £25 on your next Amazon order of £40 or more as long as you part-pay with Membership Rewards points from your:

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card
Amex EveryDay Credit Card
Amex EveryDay Preferred Credit Card
The Platinum Card
American Express Green Card
Blue from American Express

Importantly, if you took advantage of a similar offer in the past (not the recent past, I’m talking 2018 or earlier), it seems to be letting you have the discount again.

IMPORTANT:  the small print says that this offer is ‘by invitation only’.  This has historically not been an issue but you won’t know until you try.

This is what to do:

If you have not already done so, link your Membership Rewards account with your Amazon account by visiting this page on the Amazon website

Buy £40 of items on amazon.co.uk (these MUST all be sold by Amazon and not third party merchants, and excludes digital content and gift cards)

You MUST select your Membership Rewards-earning Amex card as your payment card (you cannot use gift cards or any other payment source)

Part-pay for your order using Membership Rewards points.  The sneaky option is to redeem just 2 points for a 1p discount.  This saves you ‘wasting’ MR points on a low value redemption.  You will only get 0.45p per point and you shouldn’t waste more than 2 of your valuable points on such a poor deal!  (One comment below suggests that 10 points may be required, so 5p!).

Enter code AMEX25OFF at check out (the code must go in after you have selected part-payment with your Membership Rewards-registered card)

The Amazon link above (and here) pays HFP a small commission if you use it, and helps keep us ticking over – thank you.  You pay the same price for your items regardless.

Your Amazon account must have been opened before 31st December 2018 – creating a brand new Amazon account just to take advantage of this offer will not work.  There may also be some restrictions on who qualifies, but we have never seen major problems in the past.

  1. This never ever works for me… so annoying

What am I doing wrong, my card is enrolled!

    • followed all instructions… account registered more than 7 years ago…
added Amazon Echo Dots as a test… used £1 of MR points

still says “offer code not valid”

  2. Michael says:

It never seems to work for me in the last 2 weeks. I suspect 8400 people have used it as it would expire then too even before 31July as written on the amazon offer page – “This is a limited time offer. The promotion will end at 23:59 GMT on 31/07/2019 or when 8,400 customers have claimed the promotion code, whichever is earlier. The promotion code will expire concurrently.”

  3. LeMain says:

    Nope – doesn’t work for me either…

  4. Harry T says:

Not working for me on any of the four amazon accounts I’ve used it on before. I last used it successfully in June – despite Amazon CS telling me the deal expired in December (amusing, as I could see the July expiry date on their own website whilst talking to them). It’s worth persisting because I’ve found it didn’t work one day and then worked the next, on the same account with the same card.

  5. Helen says:

I stumble at the first hurdle every time. Linking my MR account to Amazon has never worked. I’ve tried several Amazon accounts and 2 different Platinum cards, double checked address etc – just always the error message ‘We’re sorry, but something went wrong while enroling your rewards account for Shop with Points’. Amazon and Amex both say it’s nothing to do with them so I’m stumped.

    • If you have not already done so then try the mobile version of the site. If that’s the one you have been using then try desktop. Took ages before if worked for me, finally did on a mobile site which I very rarely use for amazon.

  6. Tried it with two accounts, no way … maybe next time, keep posting 🙂

  7. Claims not to be valid. Called Amazon who stated the offer is not running.

  8. Still not working Saturday morning. Perhaps we will get another opportunity in August.

  9. dosnt work code invalid

  10. Hi all, where is the option where you select to pay with just 10 MR points? I have linked my account but unfortunately cannot see that part! Many thanks
