Today we are launching a fantastic new competition.  One lucky reader will win 100,000 Avios courtesy of Avios partner Cruise118.

We haven’t done a huge amount about cruising on Head for Points before, but we know that it’s a popular holiday choice for many readers.  If it’s something you or a family member are considering, it can be a lucrative way of earning additional Avios.

Avios Cruise118

How earn Avios with Cruise118

Cruise118 offers you 3 Avios for every £1 spent which is an attractive earn rate.  For example, a 10 day cruise around Italy and the Med on the luxury cruise operator Regent Seven Seas could earn you over 18,000 Avios PER PERSON.

Not only that, Cruise118 is currently offering up to 10% off and up to £300 onboard spending money in their Big Cruise Sale so it’s a good time to get booking.  You can visit their website here to find out more.

How can I win 100,000 Avios?

The competition is very straightforward to enter.  Simply fill out the Gleam app at the bottom of this post (or by clicking through to the Gleam website) and leave your name and email address. That’s it.

We are also offering you the opportunity to double your chances and receive a second entry to the competition by signing up to Cruise118’s email newsletter.  This is optional but is worthwhile as you will be first to hear about their special offers and sales.

Earn Avios with Cruise118

If you don’t choose to get a second entry by signing up to the Cruise118 newsletter, your details remain confidential and will not be passed to Cruise118 (unless you win!).  Head for Points will not use your email address for any other purpose.  We will delete all of the data at our end after the winner has been confirmed.

Whilst I’ve enjoyed cruises that I’ve done, there’s something not quite right about them for me.

Not spending night times in the visited places just feels odd. You can’t get a feel for a place if you only visit in the daytime.

    • Anna says:

You can use this as a “taster” for places you’d like to go back to – we did this with the US Virgin Islands some years ago when it was still possible to fly there direct from the UK.

    • Jill (Kinkell) says:

We’ve done several, and it’s a brilliant way to see and experience different cultures. As Anna says, it’s a ‘taster’. We recently spent a week in Costa Rica before cruising Pacific side of Central America to SAN Diego, calling in at a variety of countries. We try to combine a holiday on land with a cruise. Our next one is 15 days in Peru followed by Galapagos. Always a bit stressful getting the 241 to fit in with our dates.( in this case 241 to Miami followed by AA cash ticket to Lima and return from Quito..wasn’t worth using Avios as the fees etc were almost as much as paying cash and the seasonal BA from LGW doesn’t run in Oct/Nov and too much of a faff contemplating IB) I quite fancy Spurs Debs Japan trip!

  • BJ says:

Thanks for another great competition, just about the only place I enter them.

  • Scott says:

I cant enter as I appear to have once used gleam with my Instagram account. I no longer wish to use this method, is there a way I can enter in the normal fashion, or how do I unlink my IG account?

  • Peter K says:

Thanks for this competition Rob (and Cruise118).

  • Boi says:

Any recommendations for cruise in April with 3 kids?
It will be our 10 year wedding anniversary and can’t decide what to do.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated

    • lebron 23 says:

recommendation – don’t go on a cruise with 3 kids

    • BJ says:

I’ve seen Disney advertising cruises so you might want to look into that.

    • Craig says:

I’ve found NCL pretty good with kids.

    • Richard says:

Disney Cruise Line. You’ll all have a great time. They won’t have a ship in Europe in April though (one arrives in may for the European summer season), so you’d need to fly to Florida or possibly west coast or NYC or Alaska or Galveston.

    • BigSi says:

Have done multiple cruises with kids. I would recommend NCL or Royal Caribbean, if you want a little more upmarket Celebrity is lovely. You will love it.

      • Boi says:

Thanks all. very interesting comments 🙂
(ps I am a woman with a husband who definitely has selective hearing. lol)

      • @mkcol says:

IIRC Celebrity are for ages 16+

        • Jill (Kinkell) says:

i’ve seen babies, toddlers and older children on Celebrity cruises

    • Mark says:

What age are the kids? and what date? Do you want to fly first or from the UK

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

Cruise lines also often give extra discounts if referred by a “friend” – and friend gets something too!

If anyone fancies the French line Ponant, say I sent you and you get 500 euros off.

We got a stranger to refer us once for Seabourne and even got a great upgrade too!

  • ann Duerr says:

Best small ship Caribbean cruise that avoids ports that have lots of mega ships docked.

    • mutley says:

Certain ports from Navy days that I would avoid like the plague. Others are great if you take the MO’s advice!!!

  • Paul says:

Is anyone having problems with IHG crediting a double your accelerate promo?

I registered for this promo hit my Accelerate targets and now IHG are refusing to credit points!

    • Polly says:

Alaska is on our to do list too. Sounds amazing way to celebrate the 60th…

      • Mark says:

Doing it this year on Ovation. (As long as I get my 2 free casino cruise certs in time)
