British Airways has once again extended its ‘Book with Confidence’ guarantee. Whilst the new bookings policy was set to expire at the end of the month, it has now been extended until 31st July.

The policy waives the change fee for bookings made prior to 31st July for travel until 31st December 2020. Alternatively, you can exchange the value of your ticket for a voucher for future travel until 30th April 2022.

It is unlikely that BA will return to meaningful flying until after July following the announcement of a new 14 day quarantine period for arrivals into the UK. This change paves the way for flight cancellations in June and July.

Remember that British Airways is legally required to offer a full refund if it cancels flights. The new booking policy extension is most useful for bookings made for later this year, where the travel situation remains uncertain.  Remember that the ‘no change fees’ promise is not as good as it sounds – you are still on the hook to pay any fare difference between whatever you paid and whatever the new fare will be.

You can see the cancellation and refund policy for major UK airlines and hotel groups in this article here.
