Odd amounts of comments per page. 50 over 2 pages on this subject. 130 over 8 on the other subject….. The old layout seemed to have about 30 or 40 per page?? Seemed to work better

    • Rhys says:

Nothing has changed – it’s done on the basis of top level comments, and the ratios are different to normal on this particular thread.

    Hi all,

I’m in the US at the moment – and I was slightly surprised to get an advert for the NRA (National Rifle Association). It was the first time I received such an ad on HFP. I’ve not visited their website, searched for anything in that arena, have no affiliation with them, so I’m not sure why I was targeted with it. Thought I’d mention it as I’m hopeful that political ads aren’t a new feature.

    • Rhys says:

You can blame Google for that one! Clearly the NRA thinks thinks you’re a prime demographic to be targetting 🙂

      • Simon Schus says:

Haha, how wrong they are! Thanks for clarifying. I had assumed that there could be a website-defined block on political ads being served by ad networks, and so had hoped HfP would turn that block on! Hopefully, they won’t appear too often as I’ve not seen the same ad appear on other websites for me (historically or recently).

        • Rob says:

I don’t think there is a political block. All standard blocks eg gambling are in place.

Galaxy 2 Active. Only 3 articles on home page and no way to access the others other than the catagorie menu.

    • Erico1875 says:

Strange. Having now clicked on the home button, it seems to have sorted itself.
      User name/email not saved though

  • Nick says:

This is a hard one to explain but I’ll try my best! On some articles (e.g. today’s sponsored Nutmeg and the daily chat, probably others but they’re the ones where I’ve seen it) the text doesn’t fix itself centrally to the page, so you can scroll to the right and only see half the text on the page at once, so the dynamic page-sizing isn’t working. This clearly isn’t supposed to happen (it doesn’t on this current page, for example) and I have no idea why, sorry.

    • Nick says:

Ok I’ve worked it out! I accidentally clicked on the easyJet page and it gave it away. The image is too big for the page. So what’s happening is the website thinks there’s something to the ‘right’ (which there is, part of the image), but what it’s doing is allowing the page to move to the right where to show the text properly it should align to the centre.

      • Rob says:

We’re aware of this. It happens on my iPhone 8 too. It is a high priority for fixing.

We found out too late in the day that the mobile format had not really been optimised for smaller handsets (eg 8, SE).

  • Stuart says:

In the article “I’m now on 41 Marriott Bonvoy elite nights (after staying 1 night!)” some of the images are missing. The image about the credit card immediately after “However, I though it was worth a try”: and
“However, mine have already arrived. As you can see here (click to enlarge):”
are missing and replaced with text and a broken link indication

    • Rob says:

Thanks. We’ve had some issues replacing small images with bigger ones and the replacement not flushing through properly.

  • @mkcol says:

When Googling your site on my phone to check something else out I noticed when the results were presented the old logo was still visible in a wee square – unsure if that’s a Google issue though.

  • Leo says:

    Search results.
Searches for “amex”, first result was Curve related from 2016. Then articles in random date order (was expecting the recent Maldives post to come up, but it wasn’t until page 3 or so).
LG G7, Android 10 for what it’s worth)

Seems some replies are not being correctly indented when it’s at the deepest level (where no more replies are possible). It’s then extremely difficult to see who the reply is to!

Both on my Android phone and Windows, both Chrome.
