Hilton Honors has just launched its new Autumn promotion which is now open for registration.

The promotion is called ‘Double Rewards’.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with virtually no small print.

What do I get with Hilton’s ‘Double Rewards’?

You will earn DOUBLE Hilton Honors base points for every stay between 8th September and 31st December.

You also earn DOUBLE elite night credits.

Hilton Honors double rewards promotion 2020

This makes the offer very interesting for anyone chasing Hilton Honors status.  It also makes the Hilton status match very attractive, as I will highlight in a separate article tomorrow.

For most brands, you will earn 10 base points per $1 spent, plus an additional 10 promotional points plus any status bonus.

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.  20 points per $1 is an 8% rebate and that is before you add in any status bonus.

What is the small print?

There is not much small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website

Apart from that, all is good:

There is no minimum stay requirement

Existing bookings still count

All Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels

Remember that the Home2 Suites and Tru brands earn a lower 5 base points per $1.

There is NO ‘starting with your second stay’ rule.  You get double points from your first stay during the promotional period.

Remember that Hilton will carry over your elite nights to 2021

Hilton announced in July that all of your elite night credits earned in 2020 will be carried over to 2021.

This makes ‘Double Rewards’ very interesting. Even if you don’t need to earn Hilton status for 2021, because your 2020 status has been extended, it is still worth putting in some nights.

The elite nights you earn in 2020 will carry over into 2021, and will help you earn status for 2022!

Details of Hilton’s ‘elite rollover nights’ arrangement are here.

Register for ‘Double Rewards’ now

Hilton’s new ‘double base points and double elite nights’ promotion is a decent offer, especially for people doing longer, more expensive stays.

It will also be a real benefit to anyone looking to earn status for 2021 or, due to the rollover of your elite nights credits, 2022.

You should make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next four months.

Even without Hilton Honors status, you will be earning 20 points (which I value at 6.6p) per $1.  This is an 8% rebate on your spending.  Anyone with Hilton status will do even better.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 31st December.

I’ve recently booked (& completed) a three night stay at a Doubletree (in Stratford – really quite nice and well managed in terms of Covid). I had two rooms, one for us and one my daughter. Just wondering if I can reasonably expect to get credit for 6 nights, 2 stays and 2×2000 bonus points? Or is Hilton policy only 3 nights, 1 stay, etc? I had two separate bookings, but all paid on one receipt

    • TGLoyalty says:

3 nights, 1 stay but points for both (you may get the welcome points for both but it should just be 1)

  • fivebobbill says:

Hi guys, some advice if possible please.
Has anyone stayed at the Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa? I’ve just booked 10 nights for September, 5 nights points and 5 night paid, free cancellation of course, but was just wondering what sort of strategy would be best to get a decent upgrade as Gold?
I’ve booked an entry room on points, but a one bed apt on the paid part of the deal which is coming in at £260 a night. Given availability of course, am I likely to get the one bed for the duration? Anyone any experience of the hotel?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • makrxx says:

I’m currently Gold. Achieved in 2019 I believe, but then got extended till March 2021 because of Covid. Only have 2 nights now. So am I right to say I need 4 nights (8 / 2) to maintain Gold up till 2022?

    • Lady London says:

Yes and you could reduce the cost by seeing if the ‘3rd night free on Hilton’ offer Rob covered here yesterday, would work for you.

With a bit of luck you’d have 6 nights credit in the bag for the cost of 2.

    • E says:

Isn’t it 20 stays or 40 nights needed for Gold status? Think you’d need another 19 nights (38/2) or 20 stays (not sure if your 2 nights was 1 or 2 stays). The stays needed aren’t changed if it’s that way you were planning to qualify and the nights would be a bit higher than 4 I think.

    • Pangolin says:

Whatever status you earned in 2019 is valid till March 2022, not March 2021, due to the extra year of status extension.

Any nights earned this year are all rolled over into 2021, so it’s as if you earned them during 2021, meaning that whatever status you earn this year will be valid till March 2023.

So someone who did 20 nights during the double nights promo would earn Gold till 2023 (and someone who did 30 would earn Diamond till the same time).

  • Martin says:

Next year it’ll be pointless going over 60 nights as when it comes to the following your rollover from current year dont count.
Eg next year with this rollover well be all good
However rollover at end 21 into 22 won’t count tiowards 23 status.
Came unstuck a couple of years ago so if using rollover don’t go beyond 60 for following year

  • Pierre says:

We already have a booking at a Hilton property via Emyr, which includes earning double points. I’m wondering if it will be possible to earn triple points as a result, by registering for this promotion?

  • Berneslai says:

Just to be clear, this is only nights and not stays, yes? I usually qualify for Diamond on a 30 individual stay basis so I think I’m unaffected by this change

    • Pangolin says:

Yes, the double credit only applies to nights.

SPG used to do targeted promos where you got 2x nights AND stays!

    • John says:

But you now have the flexibility to either requalify with 60 (or fewer depending on how many nights in this promo period) nights over 2020-21, or 30 stays during 2021 only – and that’s if Hilton doesn’t extend status again if travel still doesn’t pick up in the next 6 months
