American Express has launched a bonus Avios offer for British Airways American Express cardholders.

It is restricted to 80,000 cardholders so I recommend that you register now before Amex emails everyone about it.

This is how it works:

  • You receive 2 bonus Avios for every £1 you spend
  • This is on top of your 1.5 Avios per £1, or 3 Avios per £1 for ba.com spending
  • The bonus is capped at 4,000 Avios, representing £2,000 of spending
  • The promotion ends on 15th June
  • Spending by supplementary cardholders does not count – this is not mentioned made clear online

To register, go to the American Express website here, log in to your British Airways Premium Plus account and look in your offers section.

I was late to hfp today so just saw this offer. I was able to sign up 30 minutes ago (13:15) – wasn’t on supp card.

tks, reps lying on their ability to add offers to accounts as usual, applied a few days ago, recieved the card this am and activated. Unsuprisingly not recieved the offer and they won’t add it, but did try as a long shot

Not on mine through website, but comments above prompted me to install the app, and there it was.

  • Richard says:

The Ts & Cs sate that the offer is not valid for transactions made using third party Payment Aggregators so I am assuming it is NOT valid for purchases using PayPal etc

  • Layerden says:

Good to see Amex use those cheap Avios they bought last year!

  • Yusuf says:

This offer is brill! I signed up on the morning it was released and can confirm the offer is 2 additional avios, so 3.5 avios per £1 spent anywhere and 5 avios per £1 spent on BA.
I also called up in February to see if I could get a renewal offer on my card, and they offered me 1 additional avios per £ for the next 3 months so this offer has even better value, now giving me 4.5 avios for the first £2,000 spent after activating the offer (9,000 avios if used to max!)

Goes some way to paying off the annual fee, and great to see AMEX taking care of customers who do not hold their platinum card (for once!)

For those of you who own had the offer on your main card and not your partners card (same for me) there is a workaround for that.

For Apple Pay at least (I don’t have Google Pay so don’t know on that) you can add your own BA PP card into the apple wallet on your partners phone and use it that way.
