  Not strictly on topic but can’t seem to leave comment on relevant thread>
  Elsewhere on the site it says: “Despite what Amex tells you, you do not need to use the card to pay the taxes when you come to redeem your 2-4-1 voucher. You must use an American Express card but it does not have to be a BA one.”
  I have just had this debate with Amex as I have been want to close my redundant free BA Amex for months after I downgraded after triggering the voucher o the premium. They say if I don’t use this card to pay the taxes on voucher redemption then the voucher will be cancelled. They sent me BA t&c’s regarding the subject and they do clearly start it has to be a BA Amex that pays those taxes, not just any amex.

    It is in the rules. However:

    *Amex does not do name recognition – you could use a BA Amex from anyone, say it was yours, and it will still clear security
    *if you redeem on ba.com, ANY Amex will go through – this has been proved literally tens of thousands of times

    There is a small chance that if you make your 241 booking by telephone the agent may have a list of all BA Amex BIN codes (ie the first 6 digits of the card number) and could tell it wasn’t a BA Amex but another Amex, but not very likely.

    You WILL need an Amex of some sort to pay the taxes though.

    There are often differences in this game between what the terms say and what happens in reality.

    When things work out in your favour, it’s best not to kick up a fuss.

    When things don’t work out in your favour, then make sure the companies follow their own terms.

  I’ve already got a bonus 1 Avios on each £1 I spend. Is this cumulative with the new offer do you think? So for the next month until the other offer expires I get 3 bonus per £1?

  Not on my app or pc login. I find this occurs with many of the Amex offers I read about on HFP unfortunately
