Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

You can now claim your 25,000 IHG Rewards points for having Spire Elite status

If you had your IHG Rewards Spire Elite status rolled over last year, even though you didn’t earn enough points to requalify, there is some good news.

Your 25,000 bonus IHG Rewards points for requalifying as Spire Elite are now available to claim.

Alternatively, you can gift Platinum Elite status to a friend.

Given that the points are worth at least £100 I doubt many of you will want to do any gifting, but you can review the Platinum Elite benefits on this page of ihg.com.

Many of us thought that the points would not arrive

When IHG rolled over elite status last year, it specifically said that members who were Spire Elite WOULD receive their requalification gift.

The gift usually appears immediately when you requalify but in this case it did not. No-one was sure what was happening, but as IHG Rewards had voluntarily extended status you couldn’t really complain.

All has turned out well, however, and the 25,000 points are now available.

How do you claim your 25,000 IHG Rewards bonus points for being Spire Elite?

Go to ihg.com here and log in to your account.

On your account home page, scroll down and you will see this:

You can then choose between gifting Platinum Elite status or taking the points.

It is good to see IHG Rewards coming through here, when they could easily have said that people who were gifted requalification would not receive anything.

So to clarify I achieved the status last year normally and as such got the 25k in June- I’m not going to get another bonus?

  • Jimmy says:

I got my bonus on sept last year, will I get another one then?

  • Nathan says:

Nothing shown for me despite earning spire last year and it rolling over into this year

  • Tom says:

I had to click on my points total and go to another page.

The offer wasn’t showing on the page linked from the article.

Incidentally I got to Spire Elite via some sort of offer (can’t think that I stayed enough) but I was rolled over and I got the 25k points.

Now only on 100k but points are points.

I just wished that the benefits actually warranted staying with IHG and not with Hilton.

  • Kevin says:

You do need to go to your actual account home page and not the landing page of the site. If you click the redeem button more than once it will show as not found….but will have deposited the points

  • Alex W says:

Earned Spire last year, nothing for me. Seems a bit unfair. Did claim the 25k in December, but still.
Earning 45k+ and a free night every year is great but struggling to spend them, up to 600k points now!

    • Alex W says:

Correction, 100k per year (75k via credit card spend and 25k Spire bonus).

  • Peter K says:

To those complaining that it’s unfair that they got 25k points last year for requalifying, and no extra now, I’ll say what I said yesterday.
You got what you earned and expected last year when you hit spire. IHG have done you no harm and you’ve not lost out.
Instead that have given a gift to those not fortunate enough to requalify which is generous of them. Why be happy for those who have benefited? 🙂

I say this as someone who requalified last year and got the bonus then but no extra now.

    • TGLoyalty says:

      Incorrect, You have lost out.

Those that didn’t hit 55k have had a free 25k for no effort. Those that made the effort to stay at ihg hotels and hit 55k have been given nothing other than what they would normally get for their loyalty in the hard times.

      • Peter K says:

Actually, I got the points in the process of qualifying and then the 25k points. So I did do better than those who only got 25k points 🙂

        • TGLoyalty says:

You or your employer spent £ in your qualifying via stays

They spent nothing or less than you.

RE MS don’t think it matters creation received transaction fees and IHG got paid for their points.

      • Chrisasaurus says:

Well you’re contradicting yourself – Peter is Right, you don’t lose out because someone else gets something

    • Andrew says:

And the majority that requalified last year did so on MS….

  • Dave B says:

“Benefit Redemption is not found”. comes up when I press the claim button. I had the 25,000 last year . and over 75000 this year.

    • aDifferentSimon says:

Isn’t that what happens on all IHG benefits? upgrades, free breakfast, lounge access 😀
