Nectar bonuses: 6x bonus at eBay, 625 Avios via Nectar from Esso

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

If your Nectar account is linked to your eBay account, and you are logged in, you should see an offer for 6x bonus points (for a total of 7x points) on purchases made by midday on Sunday 18th.

You should see a banner for the offer half way down the eBay home page. It is also part of the rotating banner at the top of the page. You must click ‘Activate’ to register.

The base earning rate at eBay is 1 Nectar point (0.625 Avios) per £1 spent. With this offer, you would receive 7 Nectar points (4.38 Avios) per £1 spent.

There is a £10 minimum spend required. There is a cap of 300 base Nectar points per item – so 2,100 points in total with this offer – and the usual eBay rules on excluded categories apply.

The eBay home page is here. You can find out more about the Nectar partnership, and link your card, on this special eBay page.

Earn 625 Avios with one Esso visit

There is also an Esso offer showing on my Nectar app. I don’t know how widespread it is.

If you have this, you must opt-in via the Nectar website or app.

It is a simple and lucrative offer. Fill up with 20 litres of fuel at any Esso petrol station and you will receive 1,000 bonus Nectar points. These convert into 625 Avios.

Irrespective of whether Esso fuel is the cheapest in your area or not, getting 625 Avios for a spend of around £25 is a good deal.

The deal runs to 28th April.

  • Mike says:

esso synergy fuels (ie super diesel/ super unleaded) are also on a 3x points points promotion at the moment

    • Tariq says:

That’s the only offer I have in Nectar, no 1000 point bonus – although I have been filling up at Esso recently so been getting points multiple offers in the Esso app.

  • Andrew says:

As with *every* time the nectar eBay offer runs – it’s only 6x base points not 6x base points plus 1x base points. If you do a test basket for a purchase it will show the total points at the bottom which is just 6x not 7x. I think we have this conversation every time there is this offer and every time you have to correct your wording Rob – make a mental note that despite eBay’s wording of the offer suggesting 7x it’s actually only 6x.

    • EwanG says:

It’s poor wording from eBay though. The Advertising Standards Authority would take this up. I’ve had success with them on misleading eBay sellers (because of the way the platform works) before

      • Andrew says:

Agree, it’s wrong of eBay to word it this way as it isn’t accurate in terms of the points you get.

    • Rob says:

Agreed but if you look on the ‘activation’ page it clearly says the opposite, which is why I wrote what I wrote.

      • Nectar collector says:

The wording on the equivalent Nectar app description of the offer just says 6x points so at least they have wording in line with what you actually get

      • Andrew says:

It’s the same every fortnight when they run this offer – the offer is written by eBay to suggest bonus plus base but reality is always just bonus.

        • DeB20 says:

I can confirm that it is 6 Nectar points per £, I bought an item last night for £12 and it shows as 72 points earned. Received an email confirming the order and the Nectar earnings are shown at the bottom as 72.

  • AMW says:

No Esso offer for me although I did have a valid for one day only 5 times points on any fuel last week.

  • Josh says:

No Esso deal for me, just the normal 1 point per litre. I’ve been filling up at Sainsburys petrol station a lot recently so maybe they don’t want to lose me!

  • Zoe says:

I have an Esso one where I get 500 Nectar for the first time I fill up and pay using the Esso app.

  • Chrism20 says:

On the subject of Esso. My 99 Nectar points from the watching the video a few weeks ago has landed

    • TJ says:

+1 I wondered what the points were for…I must have watched the video and quickly forgot about it!

  • Ed says:

In terms of the esso offer I assume this can’t be collected at a Tesco / esso?

    • Rob says:

They don’t accept Nectar cards at all, do they? App is vague and just says ‘participating Esso garages’.

      • Ed says:

Thanks Rob, rarely fill up so can’t remember. Will have to route via a participating esso.

  • Rick MacLeod says:

Nope, no Esso offer for me either 😠
