Hilton’s DoubleTree Westminster re-opened yesterday with a new name, The Westminster, and a new Hilton brand – Curio Collection.

The hotel has been fully refurbished during its closure (room photo above). All 464 rooms now come with 50 inch TV’s, high-pressure rainfall showers and Nespresso machines.

The restaurant will be replaced on 1st June by the second London branch of STK, a fine dining steakhouse with its own bowling alley! Guests also have the option of visiting Bao Yum Café, which serves steamed bao buns and Taiwanese small plates.

The new website is here.

Curio Collection The Westminster Hotel London

The Westminster is the fourth Curio Collection hotel in London alongside The Trafalgar St James, 100 Queens Gate and Lincoln Plaza. (EDIT: either Hilton can’t count or something is up – they forgot to include the Hart in Shoreditch.)

Curio is a brand focused on high-end, often independently managed, hotels which want to be part of the Hilton ‘system’ without diligently following every rule in a brand manual.

In general we have been impressed by the Curio hotels we have seen although the portfolio seems to have a high level of churn – independent hotels seem to try it for a couple of year and, if it isn’t adding value, pull out.

  • Pandy says:

I think you are forgetting another Curio hotel (and one that you have reviewed)…

    • Rob says:

Hilton deliberately did not mentioned Hart in its press release ….

  • Andrew says:

The Curio Westminster does have its own website:
    https://www.hotelwestminster.co.uk

Rates are very good at the moment, particularly on points, compared to other Hiltons nearby, and the rooms look very nice.

  • Andrew says:

“£6 of Uber credit” is a slightly misleading headline which suggests a free journey up to £6, rather than the 50% discount which it actually is.

  • Stu says:

‘DiningIsBack‘ code not valid as of now so limit obviously already reached 🙁

    • Nick says:

Just worked OK for me at 06:05 this morning.

      • Stu says:

Saw your comment and tried again an it worked … weird because I defo got the code right first time as I copied/pasted it from above. I shall use it tomorrow!

    • Adam says:

Still working. Make sure you put it in as a promotion and not a voucher

  • Ja says:

On my Amex Nectar card I have spend £350 get £100 back on Regent Intercontinental and Kimpton Hotels. Not on my BA card

    • Jonathan says:

On both our Platinum + Supplementaries

    • Hannah says:

Not on my platinum which is a bit disappointing as I was about to book a Kimpton stay.

  • Laurence says:

‘The Westminster is the fourth Curio Collection hotel in London alongside The Trafalgar St James, 100 Queens Gate and Lincoln Plaza’

    and the Hart Hotel Shoreditch.

    • Rob says:

This is a cut-and-paste from Hilton’s press release, so they may know something we don’t.

  • Matthew says:

I know it is trendy to have a Nespresso machine in hotel rooms. I hate them, the coffee is foul. I would want a kettle and nescafe, maybe I am a heathen, but that is my choice, i hope they give the customers that choice, also tea drinkers will need a kettle.

    • Andrew says:

You know Nespresso and Nescafé are made my the same company right? And if you don’t like the taste of Nespresso coffee, many other companies make capsules for the machines including Starbucks and illy.

    • TGLoyalty says:

The word Nespresso is a portmanteau of Nestlé and Espresso, a common mechanic used across other Nestlé brands (Nescafé, BabyNes, Nesquik).

    • John says:

      Coffee makers also boil water

If you are that fussy about your tea you need to bring your own kettle

      • Andrew says:

They do. And that water is tainted with years of coffee oils passing through the machine resulting in truly filthy tea.

    • the_real_a says:

You might as well brew wood bark. The aeropress is the way to go…

      • Oh! Matron! says:

^^^^^^ This. The nonrecyclable capsules that contains the putrid starbucks reject coffee is abhorrent.

What’s that? The capsules are now recyclable? Hmmmm, but are they actually recycled? Nope.

Sorry for being all “angry from manchester”…..

  • Jonty says:

Isn’t double points on 1-2 night stays etc the current Hilton promotion? IHG is double/triple points on 2nd/3rd stay?

    • Dan says:

Correct. I was about to post the same.

    • Rob says:

You spotted our deliberate mistake. Well done 🙂 Need to stop adding to articles at 11pm ….
