There are strong rumours tonight that American Express is about to launch a £200 dining credit for The Platinum Card holders.

You will receive 100% back when you spend at participating restaurants, up to a cumulative £200. Centurion cardholders will receive a £400 credit.

The offer will run from tomorrow until the end of 2021.

EDIT Wed AM: This offer is now live and you can add it via the ‘Offers’ section of your card.

The participating restaurants are here.

If you’re in London, you’re laughing. The list of restaurants is simply outstanding, from 3-star Michelin restaurants through to more casual groups such as The Ivy.

The Ivy Harrogate is pictured above – there are a fair number of non-London restaurants included although there do seem to be big geographic gaps.

There are over 1,000 participating restaurants across 15 countries. Here is a random London selection for the letter ‘B’:

  • Bagatelle
  • Balthazar
  • Bar des Pres
  • Bluebird
  • Benares
  • Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill
  • Bob Bob Ricard
  • Brasserie Zedel
  • Bread Street Kitchen
  • Butlers Wharf Chophouse

…. and that is just ‘B’.

Full details should be released on Wednesday, but you can look at the restaurant list here.

It’s live to save to your card now

Save to Card to get a 100% statement credit on a transaction made in participating restaurants by 31/12/2021. Valid every time up to £200. Terms, locations, payment restrictions and future communications about this offer will apply.

  • ashic says:

I wonder if somebody will try playing the wording… “Valid every time up to £200” seems to suggest unlimited number of up to £200 meals (hahahaha).
Been wanting to try out the Gaucho at the O2…

  • Mikko says:

Does this include Supplementary Card Members? – I tried to contact Customer Services and said it only applies to their Main/Basic Card Holders 🙁

  • Cats are best says:

Just checked Centurion offers, it’s £400, same restaurants.

  • Gary Walker says:

It’s not showing on my platinum offers. Is this not available to everyone?

    • Andrew says:

You’ll need to call them to add it as it should be on all primary cards this morning.

    • Graham Walsh says:

Just seen it on my card via the app. Saved to card. Maybe try and visit the website, login and see if the offer is there.

      • Mo says:

Is this only on personal platinum card? Cannot see on Amex platinum business card

    • Gary Walker says:

Been on chat with Amex and offer has been manually added to account . Nice offer !

  • Andy says:

An offer which could have swung it for me, but only one restaurant in Glasgow, a city with one of the most dynamic restaurant scenes in the U.K., and it’s a chain – The Ivy, which has an absolutely terrible reputation here. They really shouldn’t have bothered.

    • Andrew says:

Not planning to leave Glasgow in the next 4 months?

      • Alan says:

Well unless going to London it’s pretty much just The Ivy or the Ivy to pick from across the rest of the UK too…

  • Michael says:

Called up as I didn’t have the offer on my profile: Amex said that we should all be getting an email on the next 48 hours to opt in. They have received an email today saying it was leaked last night b HfP lol

  • Anon says:

“Valid every time up to £200” does seem to suggest unlimited number of up to £200 meals – is this the case? Hmm

    • Andrew says:

Er no. Every time up to a cap of £200 overall. Just like the several Waitrose, Selfridges offers we’ve had.
