(SOLD OUT) easyJet launches a £695 advent calendar – and it’s probably worth the money

Whilst my children have been badgering me for a cheap chocolate-filled advent calendar from the supermarket, you may want to splash out on something a little more luxurious for yourself.

easyJet may have the answer. Take a look here.

easyJet has launched what it is calling an ‘Advent(ure) Calendar’. There are 12 drawers, each containing special travel treats.

The project will raise funds for Age UK.

Whilst costing £695, easyJet claims that the contents are worth over £1,500. This is potentially true and you could do even better.

You will receive:

  • four pairs of return flights for two including hold luggage – this could be very valuable as you seem to be getting virtually guaranteed availability
  • £45 to spend on easyJet’s onboard bistro
  • £75 of vouchers to spend on tours and excursions via ‘GetYourGuide’
  • A £50 car rental discount voucher

What is the small print on the flight redemptions?

There are very few restrictions, which makes it easier to get real value from this package. There are only three rules worth noting:

  • flights to Dalaman and Sharm el Sheikh are excluded
  • each pair of tickets cannot have a cash value of more than £750 (which gives you a huge amount of leeway, because even peak season easyJet flights rarely get beyond £375 return per person)
  • you cannot split a pairs of flights – each booking must be for two people who travel together (ie a solo traveller cannot have eight free flights)

The only thing that is not clear is if you can use two vouchers on the same flight for a family of four. This would technically break the rules on the buyer or recipient being a traveller on each voucher, although the buyer is ‘using’ the voucher and would be travelling. It also isn’t clear if pairs of flights could be gifted to different people.

All vouchers must be redeemed between 1st December 2021 and 31st December 2022.

The calendar is on sale now via this link where you can also find full terms and conditions. Quantities are described as ‘limited’ which is not surprising, given that 100% of your payment is going to Age UK.

    Just got one at 19:35!

  • Duster says:

I’m stuck at position 18 with the time not having moved from 166 minutes and 41 seconds for quite some time. To continue or refresh?!

    • Zara says:

Don’t refresh! You will lose your space. Sometimes it goes up and sometimes it goes down. At some points it felt impossible but refreshing will cause more harm than good!

    • Zara says:

But aren’t they closed now? I thoight the chat closes at 8pm

  • Andrew says:

Stuck at #2 for the last 45 mins since 19:30ish. Chat line says it’s available 8am-8pm, hopefully they don’t unceremoniously dump everyone still waiting after 8pm!

  • Alan says:

Only coming to this now so no skin in the game (been busy at work) but they really need to make the terms way clearer up front.

  • Denis says:

Got mine around 8pm after 3-ish hours of waiting.

  • Lady London says:

Ooh look another offer for which 2 travelling together is required, to use.

At that point I was about to stop reading.
Then I noticed the proceeds go to Age UK. A charity whose various types of worthwhile work I really admire.

The package seems a very fair offer and I applaud Easyjet for using spare capacity in a way that gets good marketing and does a worthwhile charity some good.

And in case anyone thinks £375 per person will get you everywhere in the February school holidays….it won’t. I saw Friedrichshafen (skiing) 2 years ago February at well over £600. At the time, it was more expensive than British Airways. I think I even caught a glimpsd of a £900 Easyjet fare for that… might have screenshotted it.

  • Can says:

In what gods name they take the orders for this via chat!! Seriously…

  • David says:

I bought a Brewdog advent calendar instead – £40 for 24 tins, instant online ordering and free next day delivery. Cheers !!
